All About Pocket Knives

Here are a few I wanted to share that I picked up. The pearl was from a friend and the bone gunstock I found in a antique shop. The abalone I have had for awhile.

Electric Cutlery knives from Newark NJ are some of my favorites.

I'm ZAPPED by the etch on the pearly jack! Too cool . . .errrr HOT!!
That gunstock (double gunstock?) is nice too. They're all nice Mike.
Do you know if they are Newark, or Walden (NYK)?

Charlie, Maybe it's because I live a little closer to Mike than you do, but I can read Newark on those stamps from here.

In this case, re-learn! Duh!
It is unusual that the regular pull is on the Main blade, and the long pull is on the Pen. It's usually the reverse!

Fran, here are a couple of shots of nicks in swedges, the Ulster cokebottle actually has a long pull AND a nick on the master, the Catts got the nick pretty much in the swedge. I think it has a lot to do with leverage, if it's pretty heavily sprung, it would be a nail breaker to put the pull before the swedge, plus, putting it under the swedge would sink it too far into the handle to be reached when the blade is closed.:

PS- Gotta love that "cleaning" job on the Catt. blades, huh?

I've definitely seen nicks in swedges. But I can't recall a long pull on a pen, unless the main blade has one also.

But I haven't seen everything . . . .yet!

Nothing unusual about the nick placement on Eric's knives. The swedge just touches the upper/outer ends of the nick. On Mike's knife the swedge extends below the nick. That, I think is unusual.

P.S. Did anyone note the reversed ' R ' in the word MARK, on the blade etch of that pearl ?

That's distinctive too.

Seems to have some issues with keeping the large blades in one piece..

Maybe it corners better with short blades..

Miller Bros with nick in the swedge and long pull on the pen

OK Charlie, I just got a chance to dig out the other Electric jacks that I have and all 3 have long pulls on the secondary pen blade. The regular jack was a givaway for Mail Pouch tobacco!!!

Fran you need bigger or stronger glasses the R in mark is correct on the pearl and the others also!!! The doctor loop does not lie.

I added a little prsentation box with the Electric trade mark in this thread but will also put it in the boxes thread.

Now to go back and find more of these.

Here is my latest Electric Cutlery knife and I have questions about one of the tools on the knife. It has 6 blades/tools and the main blade is the only one marked, it is marked just Electric in an arch. The knife looks like it has not been used much if at all. The blade with the hole in it is the one I would like to find out what it was used for? Look at the stag handles on the end where that blade is, they are recessed and I was wondering why they are on the knife like that? I don't think they were modified after it was made but that it came from the factory like that.

I think it's an odd one for sure and any help would be appreciated, thanks Mike

It would appear to be a small timber scribe although the nature of the blades and design of that knife suggests use with wine and champagne. It might be a scribe for marking your boxes of fine vintage beverages.

I had not thought of something for wine but it does have a corkscrew and a hook for the seal?

Great looking knife Mike. That is a really interesting blade combination and some nice looking bone scales.

Here is my latest Electric Cutlery knife. I have never seen one with marks on both sides of the tangs before??
