I found this thing at Lowe's recently and bought one. ($30.) The wheel turns SLOW, and is covered with water as it turns. It will also turn either direction with adjustable tools rests for either direction. (Not for axes, lawnmower, or bulldozer blades.) This is the first machine I've found that you can do "careful" work with. I love mine. Just thought some of you would like to know about it.

Go to lowes.com and search for wet dry sharpener for a description. I like mine so much I've started buying old kitchen knives at garage sales and flea markets, and can't wait to get home and sharpen them. I've even reshaped a bunch of those ivory handled steak knives (that are all over the world) into whittlin tools. I told muh fry-cook we had to have one to keep her kitchen knives sharp for tomaters. If you get one, I hope you have as much fun with it as I do.
