I found this site by accident and am quite impressed. For the past 15 years I've been building fixed blade knives from 01 tool steel using stock reduction. Bit by bit, I have learned quite a bit from the advent of the internet. I've sold some, given some away, and still have a few. But with anything else, I got bored with fixed blade knives and picked up a few folder kits. Built those, each one a different challenge on my workmanship. I've even acquired some older slipjoints and began rehabilitating them. Still not enough, now I am engaged in making the blades from 01 tool and heattreating and tempering the blades myself, recutting fresh side plates from brass and rebuilding a knife that suit my tastes. Yes, I even collect my fair share, primarily for the uniqueness of the knife rather than resale value. I seldom sell or give one away once it makes it to my collection. Currently involved in rebuilding a Case toothpick, circa 1970, but with a bit different blade configuration. Why do I like these blades? Primarily for the challenge I guess.

My occupation in the real world is an insurance adjuster, but being an old Marine, I just can't get away from the sharpy things!

If you read this, you might look up my most recent tool. Purchased from King Arthur Tools. Called the "Guinevere Sanding System". (Nope, I don't own any piece of the company, but this system is different than most you've seen). Seems a bit pricey at first, but once used, no such thing as handsanding handle slabs any longer.

thanks for the opportunity--Dan
