Cattaraugus

I have a Cattaraugus fixed blade knife, it looks like an old fish cutting knife. the blade to the handle is about 8 and 3/4 inches, the handle is about 4 and 1/4 inches and is faded black with thatched sides where you would hold your hand around it, legnth wise along the blade near the handle is "Cattaraugus" engraved in cursive writing on the blade. There are no numbers or anything else besides the engraved "Cattaraugus" on it.
If anyone has any info please let me know, i cant find anything online about these knives except for floding kind, thanks.

It is hard to tell without a picture.
Can you post a picture?
Sounds like it might be a 225Q.

Welcome! The knife you have described sounds like the chrome plated knife line catt. had during the 1950`s. The handles were one piece black bakelite. I would need a picture as Dale suggested to tell you more about it.

I found this today. I suppose it could be called a utility or a small carver. It appears to have smooth black bakelite handles. I had not seen this pattern before.

Sweet little Cat there Moss!
My favorite turkey & ham slicer is an old Cat I picked up at an estate sale.
It even has that nasty recycled lookin' plastic handle like yours, but Oh Baby does it ever take & hold an edge!!!!!
I think it is my favorite kitchen knife of all that we own!
Let me know if you ever decide to part with that little gem!

I pretty much know what you have. It does look a bit like a fishing knife. I recently sold a nice one on ebay and it only brought around $30. See if the pictures are the same. Jim

Yours looks to be of the 50's. Can't tell for sure but it appears to be a paring knife. In my opinion they are totally different from the shape of the blade to the guard to the handle. Mine has no guard, the blade is a scimitar shape, and it has a smooth black plastic or bakelite handle. Thank you for your post. I don't think mine would bring anywhere near $30.
