All About Pocket Knives

I was helping a friend of fathers move today. He gave me an old pocket knife it is a small pen knifed style with black sides I think it is bone. I cannot make out what it says on the main blade. It is two blade knife.

There is cursive above and U S A under the name. I have looked with a magnifying glass but being it is in cursive I cannot make it out. It looks like it might be a name that starts with a J possibly Jim? the second word it looks like it starts with an H and maybe ends with a d. Any help would be appreciated the knife is worn but still has many years of usage left in it.

Upon closer examination maybe and I stress maybe the first word is The??

There just too many possibilities within the parameters you have given to make an intelligent guess.
Can you post a picture on the knife?
That would probably help.

for some reason "the ideal USA" comes to mind. Other knives that had script tangstampins were robeson and griffon. A picture is worth a thousand words and can really help narrow down the manufacturer of the knife in question.

Thanks for the welcome. I am not sure I am going to be able to post a pic here. I can post pics on ebay but they have things that make it kind of easy.

I took 3 pics they are not clear and cannot get it to focus with a clear pic where the name is.

I will see if I can get some assistance with this.

Wow.... Applause I just looked online for the ideal pocket knife and this pic came up which looks exactly like the knife I just received.
