From what I've learned here, I believe this one is fake.

My opinion comes from:
1. 65-69 didn't have the etch.
2. The bolsters are the wrong shape, being too short.
3. The handles, where they meet the bolsters are wrong.
4. The blades are the wrong shape.
I think there is more, but i've seen enough red flags to stay away from this one.

Thanks to all who have shared their knowledge here. I've learned a lot from you.

Well, IMHO it's an authentic Case canoe pattern 62131....but most likely a 4 dot from 1976 with all the dots hidden by the bolster. Everything else about it looks fine to me. Yes the etching was started in 1974.

Thanks for your observations and experience. Now I have a couple of questions.
Did they change shape of the knife over the years?
And
Does the area where the bolsters meet the handles look right? To me the one on ebay looks like the handles curve up instead of being straight and the bolsters look shorter. But I was only going off of the one I have for comparison.(May be mine is the fake.) I was also looking at the kick and that looks different.

Anyway, It looks like I have more learning to do. A lot more.

Looking at the sellers fingers, I would say that he just had finished simi-chroming the bolsters and blades.

the knife looks authentic, although isnt 65-69. its probably a mid 70s model. the bolster looks fine to me. the older canoes did have more of a sleeker, more rounded appearance as compared to the newer canoes...80s and up.
