All About Pocket Knives

I'm no expert on Cripple Creek values, but I just picked up two on ebay, because the Buy It Now price seemed pretty reasonable. They are both #10 trapper patterns -- a one blade and a two blade. These are Effingham Cripple Creeks made in 1995. My understanding is this was the last year these were made on contract by Queen for Blackjack Knives. I paid $80 and $90 respectively. I realize these are some of the least collectable knives with the Cripple Creek name but the price seemed right so I grabbed them.

Could someone who has some actual knowledge (El Lobo, I'm looking in your direction) tell me if they think this was a good deal, or just okay, or if I overpaid? I'm thinking about keeping one and reselling the other after I get them.

Anyway, enjoy the pics if nothing else.

I only know that the sawcut Barlow pattern was made by Queen. I'm going to suggest that you could probably ask Mike Stewart of Bark River, (over at knifeforums), as he was running Blackjack at that time.

They look like two nice examples of the pattern. I have seen pricing on any Cripple Creek fluctuate wildly over the last couple of years, so I find it hard to place a value on either of these. Sorry.

It sounds like maybe these 2 knives were made in house....and that Queen made more than just sawcut Barlows.

You're right, these probably were made in-house by Blackjack. I'd seen another thread over there from 2004, in which someone was asking about the value of these #10 trappers from the Blackjack years because he was considering bidding on one. The consensus then was that they were worth a minimum of $100, and indeed the one the orginal poster was watching ultimately went for about $200. That was what caused me to snatch these up.

Regardless, couple of nice knives, and I doubt I overpaid at least. I might resell one and depending on the price I get decide whether to keep or sell the other.

Cripple Creeks arrived today. Regardless of collectability, very nice knives. They seem to carry some serious cowboy mojo, so I took some pictures of the two bladed trapper with props. I think it captures the knife to a little better advatage than the orginal picture from the ebay listing I posted above. Agree?
