All About Pocket Knives

Well not in the physical sense but it sure felt like a stabbing.

I was at my neighbor’s house in his garage. Chris was showing my son his work restoring his old FORD TORINO 1970. He needed a knife to cut some twin (he had tying a plastic cover over it). He asked me for my knife to cut the small twin. I have given him a Kershaw Rainbow in the past. He told me he gave it to his new girl friend. Which she loves and works as a welder with Chris. I reached in my pocket and came up with am embarrassment... So I reached in all my pockets and the only thing I came up with was more embarrassment in front of my son... It sure felt like a STAPPING in the back. Gee did they every razz me. I now have so many knives that I stick them in the floor and walls in my house. But yet when I needed one I was KNIFELESS. I am sure that my son will pass this bit of history many times in the future. I did not lose any knife. It’s just that I forgot to put one in my pocket. It must be a side effect to my medication I am taking. Or it could be just a senior’s moment...

Has this ever happened to any of you ????

I feel yer pain ... I feel necked if I don't have a knife on me, that's why I carry about three. I know it may seem excessive, but sometimes it's just hard to pick one to take with 'ya. So, I take several My job requires me to go to the local courthouse once a week, and of course, I have to leave my knives in the car. It's an awful feelin' to not have 'em on 'ya.

Ken, I believe realizing you've come off without your knife is worse than realizing you've come off without your teeth!

My problem isn't forgetting to put one in my pocket it is remembering where I put it when i took it out of my pocket.....

Or... Forgetting to take it out of my pocket and running it throught the washer and dryer.

Knife-less..........kinda like going comando............but not.

I had to leave all my knives in my van so I would not get stopped in the court house metal detectors. It was strange not to have a knife in my pocket. A helpless feeling.

Being without a knife is definitely not a good feeling.In addition to my regular carry,I keep a SpyderCard in my wallet at all times.I don't fly any more and rarely go into buildings that have metal detectors so I'm pretty comfortable in doing that.

Hmmm....I have gotten a couple of blocks from home and realized I forgot my teeth, but never my knife.

I did lose my ony one a couple of years ago. That's what got me into this mess in the first place. Now I have 2 or 300 backups.

At the court house 'ya check your knife with your gun before you go through the metal detector.....if you live in Pa. !

Just noteing that many posting are older men.

I also note there are many here just reading ( they must be the YOUNGer men) VIEWed 100 times.

A few years ago while traveling with Sarah and some friends, we stopped over in Fernandina, FL where my grandfather grew up. We stayed in a nice Bed & Breakfast Inn. The old courthouse had been recently improved and was worth a visit to see the architecture, woodwork, etc.

We walked into the vestibule and were met by a law enforcement officer that asked us to empty our pockets into some plastic bowls. There was no metal detector. Everyone did as requested. I was carrying a Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn tactical knife at the time. When I dropped it in the bowl, the officer said, "I do not see that knife. But, if I did I'd have to confiscate it. It would violate State law." Then he turned away from the bowl, looked at me and asked, "Are you staying in town?" I told him we were at the B&B down the street. He suggested that I might like to return there for a few minutes before attempting to tour the Courthouse.

I took all my possessions out of the bowl, went back to the B&B, and locked my Gerber in the car, returned to the Courthouse, and repeated the process of emptying my pockets into a plastic bowl, did the tour, listened to the officer's informative lecture, and nothing further was said about my knife.

Thats one thing I did not think of when traveling is the state by state laws.
