My first attempt

Hi guys.
After seeing some of the fine work that you guys post on here of your rehabs and knife pimp jobs, I decided I would like to try one myself. The following is my lame first attempt.
Just keep in mind that this first attempt is mainly for practice on my part, more about how to do it than what the final product would look like. There is no fancy file work, or major work on the blade. Oh, unfortunately, I really only have before and after pictures. I got caught up in the actions, and neglected to take pics during...
Here's what I started out with, an old beat up SCC 2-blade. The main blade was pretty thin and ate up. The 2nd blade was not in that good shape either,, so I decided to make it a 1-blade. I happened to have a used SCC spear from another lost cause, so I used that.
After disassembly, and some minor clean up, this is what I had:
After some more blade work, such as thinning down the tang and such, I prepped everything. Since I didn't have a close pin size, I ended up sanding down some nickel silver stock. I fitted everything, peened in place using a slackener on the blade, and then some clean up on the buffer and belt sander. Here's what came out:
The spring on this baby is like a bear trap, so I cut an easy-open slot in it. I had some issue with the spring pin that sits in the cell. It's hard to get it down without damaging the cell. I even tried a spinner, but I hadn't take the pins down enough on each side, so I ended up sanding them flat and buffed them out. All in all a good experience for me, and fun.
I think it will make a good user. I'll put a nice edge on it this morning. It is nice and thin, and rides in the pocket well.
Please offer any advice or criticism that may be helpful for my next attempt.
