Well, let me just share my opinion of SAK's. I HATE them! Here's why:
-- Excellent fit and finish
-- Very light weight
-- Blades are extremely easy to sharpen, and slice like a demon
-- Extremely well engineered and crammed with useful features
-- They don't cost hardly anything at all
Yes I hate SAK's. When you really want to put your fancy bone handled Case or Queen stockman that you paid $100 for in your pocket and that plain old SAK is sitting there right next to it, it forces you to admit that whatever you were paying for, it wasn't utility, efficiency, or engineering, because the SAK beats your high end slipjoints across the board for all practical purposes.
I think they should be banned!!!

I love SAK's, but I REALLY love Alox ones.
Add a saw blade to that soldier and you get the "Farmer" model which is jsut about the perfect outdoors SAK!

COOL knives!
Help a dummy. I like SAKs. Now that I know what SAK means, somebody tell me about "Alox". All I have is Victorinox and Wenger.
I'd be thrilled to know about other brands, styles, and makers.

Alox = Aluminum Oxide. It refers to the aluminum handled SAK's which have an oxide finish. I think they are all made by Victorinox, but don't quote me on that.

Just as a bit of information,
Victorinox bought out Wenger in April of 2005, so they would in fact all be made by Victorinox.
Nice collection Don Luis.
