All About Pocket Knives

Actually I bought a box of old knives, and this one, and another newish looking one was in there. And since I know nothing about knives I thought I would ask here. I went to buckknife.com and all of the knives I looked at like mine have a number right below the word Buck on the blade. Is that a number 1 on mine or is it some kind of symbol? Any help someone could give me would be appreciated so much. And now I'm hoping I post these pictures correctly.

Welcome to AAPK. You did just fine posting those pictures.
We recently had a thread discussing the date code symbols Buck uses to show the year a knife was made. I have attached a link to that thread below. The symbol you show is an anvil. As the resident Buck expert, Joe Houser states on that thread, the anvil was used to mark the 100th anniversary of Buck back in 2002. Is there a model number on the knife blade?

No, there's no number on the blade, just the # 500 on the case it goes in. The Buck website shows this same knife but it shows a number on it instead of a mark. Thanks for the link, I love getting new information. It pays to go to the people who know things.

I'm not sure you want to see these other old knives but is you really do I'll post a pic. They look to be in terrible shape to me. They're old and dirty and rusted. But she only wanted $15 for the whole box and you know how us packrats are. I used a little fine steel wool on a few blades just to see if I could find out anything about them. I'm deficient in knife cleaning know-how so I think that's all I'll do.

932Y on one side of blade - All I can make out on the opposite side of the blade is..John Prim..there is more engraved there but I cannot read it. This knife is really old.

I have duplicates of a couple of those. I've got one of the Utica Kutmaster Girl Scout knives and also one of the little yellow handled Imperials. The John Prim... Is John Primble.

Dale likely has three of every one of them.

I'll say you did very well for $15. The Girl Scout knife alone would bring about that on ebay.
