Buck 112 question

I've got a Buck 112 w/ nickle silver bolsters. Is there any significance to this over a brass?
What years were the nickle silver ones made? (mine had a blade replacement in 2000).

I don't know the answer but I would guess that nickle silver is more expensive than brass. I really like the 110 and 112 customized with Damascus, Anodized Titanium, or Stainless Steel bolsters.
I started using 410 and 420 Stainless for bolsters; I found that nickle silver kept going up in price.

The first nickle silver bolstered 112 that appears in a Buck catalog was made in 1987. It was supposed to be a commemorative knife celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 112 Ranger... 1963-1988 The funny part is that the 112 did not actually come out until 1972. We did not have a history guy back then and the people in marketing just "assumed" that the 112 came out when the 110 did in 1963.
The idea was that it was the silver anniversary so the knives were made with nickle silver. This 112nk last appeared in a 1993 catalog although there have been many various other 112 projects done since on an NK frame.
