i was out today browsing a couple of local flea markets and a pawn shop which one of my friends told me sold some case knives and i picked up a couple of pretty nice ones today. one is a near mint 1965-69 case xx red bone copperhead 6249. it would be mint except for a pepper spot on the main blade and the next one is a 1996 case xx genuine stag....i believe they call this one the big chief 54131. a nice find in mint condition.

You did good, Steve! Very good indeed.

Ebay makes knife collecting easy; and it's simple to collect new issue knives from your favorite manufacturer. But I love, just really really enjoy, getting out, away from the computer and into the knife collecting trenches... Yep, on my regular route I will make about every three weeks is a couple of pawn shops, a knife shop, some antique stores, a flea market (where I have been setting up shop myself on Sundays) in search of treasures. If not to keep for my own collection, I peddle my finds on ebay.

As a bonus to my selling at the flea market, I make a big deal about buying knives. If someone has grand dad's old blade back home, they get my business card. Yes, I do look at a lot of junk; the bonus there, is I get to handle a lot of knives. Can never handle too many of them.

Thanks for showing off your finds.

Phil

ps.... my all time best find was a Marble's safety folder. The Antique shop owner was under the impression that all old knives were valuable, and had all of them--- even the tin shell handled Imperials--- priced at the $60 to $90 range. But the Marbles was a bargain at the price.

thanks phil, we sound alot alike. i do the same thing, going around to the local flea markets, yard sales and pawn shops. i found these two knives at a pawn shop that hasnt been open all that long. one of my friends who knew i collected knives told me about it and so i thought i would stop by and there these two were sitting in a knife roll in the display case. he had several more case knives among other top brands, but mostly newer ones. needless to say that i will be making frequent stops from now on.
