All About Pocket Knives

I recently bought an A.G. Russell Toothpick. I first noticed it a few years back, but I was a bit slow on the trigger and missed out on them. Needless to say I snatched up this knife the moment I saw it.

How are A.G.'s offerings? I know that he doesn't actually make knives, and that they are made by other manufacturers according to his designs.

Some of AGs "club" knives were made by Puma in Germany. He has mentioned Schrade, Arrowhead and Camillus in the past.............but I believe they are all shut down. His plans are to make knives in-shop, but they will be pricey. From what I understand most are made in the USA.

Great question, I got this one from AG Russell and I'm not sure who makes it it either. I know its made in the US. Notice the different colored stag sides. Not sure if that is good or bad. Overall a very solid knife.

A.G has knives made anywhere where they can make him the Quality he insists on to his design.
Currently A.G. Russell knives are made in the U.S., Japan. Italy, Taiwan & he now has 1 made in China.

Prototypes and some knives are also produced in his shop in Rogers, Arkansas.

The OP's toothpick was made by Camillus.

Does any one realy use his knives?

I have the feeling 80% or more will never get used.

I have the feeling that most high cost knives only get seen by the owners and not used.

There for do his older ones incress in value ?

Will it double in 10 years or so?

I have six of his knives, three from the Knife Collectors Club series, and use all of them. Hard to say if anyone else uses theirs.

I haven't used it yet, but that's because it's so new still and I haven't yet put on the edge I like. But it will end up in my pocket sooner or later. That big blade should make a heck of a picnic knife.

Phil Gibbs is right, this knife was made by Camillus. I'm glad I snatched it up when I got the chance, it looks like there'll be no more like this beauty.

No, I'm sure he didn't. If you are referring to the slightly "out of round" appearance of the top bolster, I think it's an optical illusion based on the camera angle. If you look at the middle of the three pictures above you'll see the same look to the bolster

I asked if anyone knew the correct name for the blade style last December. While there didn't appear to be a formal name for it, of all the possibles suggested, I liked "humpback" the best. I later saw it refered to as a "willow leaf", which is probably more correct as there is a fishing reflector blade of about the same shape with that name

No info on blade name. But AG said Camillus made the knife.

I us all of the knives that I purchase. I collect only knives that I will use.
I am currently caring a Queen muskrat. I have plans to collect new trapper soon. I just cannot make up my mind what it will be. I like knives that take a edge good but, hold it well also. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A 1990 club knife I just traded for. I think it was made in Japan.

Oldways: That is what A.G. sold as a Rope Knife. I bought one too. Mine is a second as it has A.G's notch that he uses to identify seconds. For the life of me though I can't see why mine is a second. Fit and finish is beautiful and the jigging and bone are perfect. You have a beauty.
