Schrade I-X-L Wostenholm "Sheffield England"

I don't have pictures of this knife yet I just bought it! On the main blade it says Schrade I-X-L Wostenholm (overthe ixl is 1878 I know it's not that old!). On the tang it says Sheffield England on the main blade bolster is 10316. On the other bolster SW_O cant read it very well. On secound blade us a "S" thrid blade is a funny looking little blade. IM going to try and get some picture just not good with new camera yet.. Thanks Everyone with your help Don G

Imperial Knife Co owned the Wostenholm name and trademark in the late 1970s and early 80s. I believe the SW 0 means the knife was made in 1980. Is your knife the stockman?

One of my fellow cCc member brethren that was aware I have
a few Schradies sitting around here sent me one of the IXL
Worchestershire Stockmans in fall '07.
He calls the weird spey a pinky toe blade which may not
be quite the correct knifeology term but I like it.
The camera decided to focus on the backdrop instead of the
knife on the front open blade pic so I'll post both fronts.

Jim that is exactly what it looks like, the number on the bolster is different! It's a big knife I think it said 9 oz.
I guess there good made knifes, my wife bought it for me for $40.oo. Thanks alot Don
Did you take the pictures, those are great pictues. I just can't get my FUZI to get a close up..

Yes theat pinkie toe knife is funny looking. Makes me think of a surgical knife..

Hi guys, I've only posted on this forum a couple of times but have got a lot of useful info here over the years. Here's a small contribution, albeit off-topic. (But who else is gonna care about this stuff?)
I got a Wostenholm IXL breadknife with a white bakelite handle in south London about 30 years ago. It came from a house clearance and was already old when I got it. I've only seen one other, in Australia. I'd guess mine is 1930s or 40s vintage because of the age of the goods it was sold with.
It is flat-out the best breadknife I ever found. Sharp, accurate, cuts even the softest bread, hasn't needed sharpening in decades. Wostenholm rah rah rah, and it's a shame about the Schrade buyout. I'll gladly send photos if anyone wants 'em.
Incidentally, my dad, who was a gear snob like me, kept a Wostenholm folder in his cupboard. I found it in original wraps looking brand-new, although it must be 60 years old. It's a pretty standard IXL folder except that the blade has been stencilled with "Coopers dips" (sic) in bad typescript. My guess is that this clumsy retrofit was done in the early years of promo goods. My dad was clearly smart enough to spot a good knife, even in disguise.
