All About Pocket Knives

I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on this knife? I would really like to know the age but am interested in all the info I can get. The knife is marked Belknap Louisville and numbered DBG24S. Thanks in advance for any info.

bellknap hardware co. louisville, ky. 1968-1985. the original belknap co. started in 1839 and went through several incarnations.

other stamps used
john primble, blue grass, crusader, pine knot,blue ribbon.

Belknap was a major hardware distribuitor based in Louisville, Ky. They sold to other hardware stores as well as having their own stores. I have not seen a knife with the Blue Grass name on it, but I have seen lots of hand tools like hammers, saws and tin shears that bore the Bluegrass brand. Much of the hardware they sold under the Belknap brand.

I believe they, like other hardware distributors, had their knives manufactured under contract by other makers.

I own one John Primble knife. It does not look to be of the same quality as the one pictured above. I suspect mine was made by Camillus but that is just a guess.

Anybody know who made thier knives?

Thanks for the info. Is this a Bluegrass knife then? Is that what the BG stands for in the number?

thr bg is part of the pattern #. yours is stamped belknap.

Goins lists some John Primble as made in Germany & Prussia.
