What Is This

I have been clearing out an old house and ran across this knife and wonder if you guys know what it is. See Picture

Hey;
Looks like it could be an old modified boys or stabber pattern, Most likely from the looks it is a well worn cotton sampler.Remington made one with that choil cut and a bolster sort of like that.Ypu might check maize knife also.

Thank You. I will post anything I find out about this knife.
Cotton knife might be right since it came from a cotton growing area of Mississippi. I also found a keen kutter pruning knife with this one. I can post a pic of it if you would like.

Hey;
Yes, please post the pruner. Most likely it is also a sampling knife, Hard to believe but my older brother and Dad both worked at a cotton gin and a compress plant and used those type of knives. I would make a guess that the choil cutout was to prevent too much of a cotton sample being taken from the bale of cotton.

PS If it, the pruner is a sampler it will be rather rounded on the point.

Yes the tip is round and strange world we live in because my grandfater owed part of our local gin. That might be where these 2 came from. Here is the Pic.
