I really don't know what to make of this whittler. I'm not interested in buying it and just looking at it for educational purposes. I wish there was a better close up of the tang stamp, because it just doesn't look quite right imo. Maybe I'm all wrong, but wanted to get another opinion.

I can't really venture an opinion as to the authenticity of this knife, but I would say this, there is a huge incentive to "repair" or otherwise spruce up a knife of this value. The stag does look a little funny to me. The blades look to have been cleaned. The knife might possibly have been apart.

well heres my two cents worth! i agree with Johns thoughts about holding it, sometimes thats all it takes! to me, the stag looks fine, infact everything but the pen blade! that end looks loose like it might have been apart and replaced? look at the grind mark above the tang, it appears to be rounded a little. thats not right. the other two tangs are ground flat. its hard to judge a knife by pictures, but a opening bid of 600 bucks is too much for me!

Oh for sure, i'd make room in the gunsafe for it! I just dont like dishing out that kind of money for a picture. I'd rather see her up close and personal.
