All About Pocket Knives

Hi,
I joined the forum the end of March and am just now getting around to checking things out in detail. I just now came across this "member intro" and thought I'd say hi. I found this Knife forum while doing a web search looking to see if Cripple Creek was still in business. I bought a knife from Bob Cargill back in 1985 at a gun show at the Cow palace in San Francisco and have packed and used the knife ever since. Recently one of the blades started to wobble and I wanted to find out about getting it fixed. While doing my seach I've gathered that Bob isn't making knives any longer and his knives are now sort of a collectors item. I was looking at another set he had for sale but but after paying $60 (which at the time seemed a lot money for a knife)) I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $100 he was asking for the set. They were a beautifuly made set of double bladed cow bone handle knives, one dyed red and the other white. I've been kicking myself since March.
Anyway, that's how I got here and now all of a sudden I'm interested in collecting. I even recently purchased another Cripple Creek knife on Ebay. If anyone has any information on Cripple Creek please feel free to message me. I'm also interested in what any of you think of the knives or if you have any you'd like to show off I'd like to see pictures.

Welcome to the forum Speakezy. Well, I live in Santa Rosa, just a few miles away. Fellow knifers in this area are rather rare. I lived and went to school a few years in Napa, OH-OH , that was clear back in 1970-73. I went to Napa High, Vintage High-first year it was open, and Redwood Junior High. I lived on MacFadden, and my folks moved back for retirement. That is until the last BIG earthquake struck, damaged their house, they fixed it and left, my mom was not about to stay, scared the heck out of her, guess the house was moving pretty good. I have many fond memories of that area.
Anyway, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome Hukk. We're about the same age I think. I moved to Napa in 79. I live right near Vintage. I remember the earthquake well ...about 2 in the morning I was woken up...sat up in bed holding on ..figuring I was going to be riding the bed all the way down to the first floor. I had just had the house built that year and the guy who built it did a good job ....believe it or not, not a crack in a wall or a brick out of place though it was hard enough to open all my drawrs and cabinets and spill everything out on the floor.
