blade stamped: joseph rogers
& sons

tang stamped: No 6
northfolk st
sheffield

back of tang has a *and a cross.

my book doesn't date the knife. if i can find my camera, i will post a pic. 6 inch closed, 11 open. 5 1/2 inches of stag. ::ds::

thanks

oh, i saw my first exploded cell today, several of them actually. in a bucket of knives.
i have to admit i doubted the outcome of degraded plastic.

Great looking lock-back knife ::tu:: ::tu:: . The tang stamp doesn't really help in this case as it was used over such a long period of time. However, looking at the knife, I estimate it to be from the late 1800s IMO. Very nice scales. :D

thank you smiling.

i scored, went into a saddle shop, yes, real live saddle maker, and he had a few knives on display...chinese...not what i am looking for thanks...as i am walking out, he says..you want to look through a couple of buckets of knives i have in the back?

:D
...i found this rogers, a shur snap, equal end, cell scale, spring loader, a PAL two bladed, fat end jack, plastic stage scales, and an unmarked, two bladed jack, black derlin with a rio grande petroleum products shield.
50 bucks for all...the shursnap wouldn't close, or snap open...amazing what a drop of lubrication can do for machine parts...

need to go back to those buckets with more money. ::nod::
my camera an scaner have gone on strike...i will post pic's when i can.

thanks again sir.

The second pictures provide a much better view of the stag. A gentle cleaning of the stag is acceptable IMO. I use a little dish liquid in water with an old toothbrush just to get some of the crud off. Dry thoroughly and then maybe a little oil to keep them from drying out. Just my 2p. Take at your own risk. :D s-k
