All About Pocket Knives

I was in the Adirondack Mountains and stopped by the Old Forge Hardware store and picked up the SAK Soldier, aluminum scales, nice heft, and sharp as h#ll ! It has a can & bottle opener & reamer and one large main blade, I don't know how anyone else feels but I really appreciate how functional these are. I saw some of the other models and wondered if I would use all the other implements, saws, screwdrivers, toothpicks and the rest. Some of that is just too much, they don't rest in the pocket, and they are too big and heavy. I work construction and use my knife everyday for many reasons, and after work if some refreshments made it my way, I could always open them up

I don't have any hard data to back this up, just a hunch more than anything, but I think you would find a lot of folks here carry some sort of Swiss Army type knife on a regular basis. They may have some high dollar dandys stashed away at home but they pack something like the one you bought. If they didn't sell a ton of them, Wal-Mart would stock something else instead. I have one I carry on occasion. I rotate my EDC (every day carry) stock fairly often, but I have a Victorinox that's definately in the mix.

SAK's are great! I too have a Victorinox soldier and it has served me well as an EDC but I think I need a new one, it somehow got kinda funky. Another SAK you should look at is the Victorinox compact, it's nice and slim but still has a large blade, combination screwdriver, wire stripper and cap lifter (it's the tool on Jonets knife in the pic), as well as a corkscrew with a mini screwdriver held in it, a hook with a nailfile on the back that can also be used to strike matches, a toothpick, tweezers, a ball point pin and scissors; it's the slimmest full-size Victorinox with a pair of scissors. As you may be able to tell the Compact is my favorite SAK thusfar and I highly reccomend it. Oh I almost forgot, it's got a straight pin as well, man I tell ya, no wasted space what so ever!

I go for the Victorinox Executive do to the real file and scissors I use so often. She is on my key chain.

I also have this one that MM made.

I have a great Victorinox for sale. It has never been carried. still in mint condition. I keep it oiled even though I don't use it. I will try and post a pic I recently took because I was getting ready to sell it on e-bay. It hs two knife blades, scizzors, a saw blade, can opener,bottle opener,straight screwdriver,a sewing thing,can opener,landyard hole, and tweezers,toothpick,and something like a hook.It's 31/2 " long Cost 60.00 5 years ago.Could someone explain how you put pictures in your posts?? Looks like you may have already figured it out , but when you log on, check the upper right corner of the screen where it says "messages" if you have any it will say so. Click on that and they will come up on the screen. Click on the one you want to open.

Good looking knife Witey, looks like a Huntsman. I myself have one, first Vic I bought and arguably the knife that kick-started my knife collecting hobby. Hey Stancaiman, that's a great collection! I've been thinking 'bout a Swisschamp for some time now.
