All About Pocket Knives

I thought I would start a new thread on switchblades. I have one that came from Mexico several years ago. It was a gift from a former coworker. It has plastic handles, and the only wording on the tang is the word rostfri, Germany. It is fully automatic and snaps open real fast.

I have several brands. I carry a Boker Magnum small one. Black aluminum handles, black blade and has a lock on the back. I like it except for one thing, it is tip down carry and I like tip up carry. The steel in the blade seems very good too. I carry it at home only tho.

I really like the Buck 110 Auto. Nice hefty knife, fits my hand good and it snaps open fast.

I have 3. A George Schrade which I've posted before, a stag Hubertus cigar pattern that I use occasionally, and a Shur-Snap fishtail like the one Johnnie posted but with brown marbleized covers.

The Shur-Snap was in a local antique mall for $22.50, but I asked for and got a 10% discount. Sharpened but full, and good working order.

The Geo. Schrade was laying out on a display table of fine vintage Ameriican autos at a show. Everything else was in glass exhibit cases. There was no one around , so I picked it up and saw it had a price tag. I didn't want to wander away looking for the exhibitor, ( and give him a scare if he came back first ), and I wasn't about to put it down, so I stood there holding it until someone went off and found him......

a very nice gentleman who gave me a lot of information about vintage autos, and a discount off an already great price. Anyone familiar with the NCCA will know who it was.

I love auto's. If you are looking for high quality, check out Microtech, Pro-Tech, Benchmade. Very good steels and whip out there with alof of force. These knives are wicked.

I have a Pro-Tech Ciabatta, which is their only assisted knife. It is amazingly smooth and well made.

It has a "Pin Lock Ultra Safety" mechanism. The mechanism is spring assisted because the knife can only be opened with pressure applied to the blade, and there is a detent that
keeps the blade in the closed position so that it cannot be flipped open with gravity. The Pin Lock mechanism took a few minutes to become familiar with since this knife opens and closes in a completely different manner than other knives.

How about a Benchmade auto and a Kershaw assisted opener.

I have owned a couple lever locks and one Boker switchblade but sold or traded them all. I just pullled the trigger on this Pro-Tech Ivory Micarta yesterday and will share my opinion once I get it in...
