Always a good idea. A couple of years ago, I quit added sugar cold turkey for six months and closely monitored the sugar in prepared foods. Lost 20 pounds in the first month. Plateaued there but 20 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. So far, I've been able to keep it off by not sticking my head in the sugar bowl too often. Only 70 pounds to go. Sigh.

I love sweets, A LOT, but it's not good for me in my "golden years".
