I bought a bucket of "Scrap metal" from a roadside junk seller today. I took a quick look inside and saw an ax head so I bought the bucket thinking I could use the ax and it would be good extra metal for future knife making projects. After getting home and taking a closer look... ::paranoid:: I realized I had a lucky find ::woot:: and the ax turned out to be a Norlund! ::ds:: and... ::woot:: a few other goodies! ::groove::

Like that Norland. That Proto tube wrench and thread find are great finds as well. Congrats!

Yep, once in a while a thread file really saves your bacon.

That pick hammer likewise, an autobody tool but useful in other sheet metal projects as well. I used mine today in fact, for clinching down a corner seam.

Nice finds! Ironically, a ton of my own tools were acquired the same way, in similar conditions.

I have a really similar Ford wrench (in fact, it's even as rusty as yours), except it's a few sizes larger. For those in the know--were these in the toolkits of Ford cars or Ford tractors?

Couple years ago I got a real nice Norlund, I posted pics of it. I got in a bidding war with another collector. I ran into him all over the State of MD. He out bid me on every nice axe I wanted. When this one came up I told my cousin I was only going to $15 on it, then I went up to $25, $45, I think I went about $60 on it. But, now when we bump heads we each let the other guy win, every other time. He turned out to be a decent guy. He told me he just bought a big collection off the Eastern Shore. Said he paid $10K for 1000 axes.

I went back to see when I posted my first axe. On page 24 I found the pic of my future hunting cabin. Take a look at it now. I have newer pics I haven't added yet, but it's coming along, Joe

I couldn't find the original pic to post it, you have to go back to page 24. Someday my Axe Collection will be mounted around the edge of the ceiling.

That pick hammer turns out is a Proto. I like Proto tools and I am always happy to add to my Proto collection... especially at a "Bargain price" ::groove::

Always had some around but just recently started grabbing up some more. There is a knife vendor at the shows who has been at it awhile and he has given me a lot of pointers. I think when I moved I left a couple in the barn for the Amish kids who bought the farm.

Thanks! ::handshake:: ... That is a nice find ::tu::... A while back I picked up one at the local flea market with that same pattern head but also with no markings. It is a great size for keeping in my truck.
