had a successful hunt today a head shot dropped the little spike horn in his tracks while he was trailing two does.

Good job, garddogg! What speed is that Model 99? Ain't never had one, but several of my brothers-in-law have them. They think highly of the 99s. I believe theirs' are .243s.

That's a great tribute to your Grandpa! Lots of folks probably don't understand the simplicity of a couple of knives covered by a deer's blood and what it means to carry on great family traditions! Such pictures may not be politically correct in some circles but thank you for sharing!

Wishfull,I like them alot for deer and foxes,not so much for wild boar,as they travel a lot.They hit the crops at night and by daybreak they move on to the next village.So you only know they were there,not where they hang out that day.

Look forward to the answer on how many tags allowed. If I recall, multiple allowed over the counter. Wish it was as easy here, lottery only. 5 years straight I put in for all big game species finally have an ELK tag that opens end of the month. Should draw a buck tag next few years since now I have alot of bonus points for the draws.

Don't know what the limit is here this season but it changes every year anymore depending on crop damage/how much land you own/new decease's in the herd/State land Federal land private land--my neighbor and his two son's took 40+ off a big farm lease he has S.W. of here two years ago Last year they found a lotta carcuse's from some new desease--15 yrs. ago ther was TB epidemic and you could take all you wanted just about if you owned the land

I'm not Phil but here's what the Kentucky DNR site says.

STATEWIDE DEER PERMIT
All deer hunters, unless license exempt, must first buy and carry proof of purchasing a statewide deer permit while deer hunting. This permit allows a hunter to take two deer: one antlered and one antlerless, or two antlerless. It doesn’t matter if the antlered or antlerless deer is taken first.

ADDITIONAL DEER PERMIT
To take more than two deer, an Additional Deer Permit must be purchased. The Additional Deer Permit is valid for deer of either sex. Regardless of what permit a deer hunter carries,
the statewide season limit for antlered deer is one per hunter. In Zone 1, (Western 14 counties - J.D.) hunters may take an unlimited number of antlerless deer.
In Zones 2-4, hunters may take a total of four deer.
The statewide limit is ONE antlered deer per hunter, per season. The Additional Deer Permit is not valid unless the hunter has first purchased an annual hunting license and statewide deer permit and is able to show proof of that in the field. A state-wide or Additional Deer Permit may be used on public and private land, and during some quota hunts.

We still have to wait till Thanksgiving Day to rifle hunt, stick and string season is now open in the Florida panhandle, zone D.
Florida has a very liberal bag limit on private property, 2 legal bucks per day. We only have 1 week of doe season with a rifle, but then during archery season you can kill 2 does per day. If you have enough land, you can apply for additional doe permits that can be used anytime during hunting season. State run Wildlife Management Areas usually have a different set of rules than private lands. There are over 170 different WMAs in Florida but they do not all offer deer hunting.

Right now I'm on restricted duty following having two stents put in last week so my buddy field dressed the deer and my brother worked it up for me. Hey if you're going to be on the injured reserve list you might as well make the best of it, right ? Actually it felt weird having someone else take care of all that for me, but I was grateful for the help.
I'm planning on going after a doe next since my buck quota is met now, and by next weekend I'll be able to take care of my own harvest without having to depend on others to do it for me. Maybe then I'll finally get a chance to 'christen' that Jason Fry made fixed blade.
