Thanks for your input--much appreciated. I found a source of kirinite online that has a color called antique white pearl that I think closely resembles these original scales. I'm not sure if other materials might be available that would work, but I think the kirinite may be the way to go.

I agree that’s a good choice, at least knowing what we know at this time. Time will tell. Fifty years from now those who are in possession of our knives may think we were all stupid, just like we judge celluloid today!

The celluloid is starting to disintegrate, remove the handles soon!
