LENOX CUTLERY CO Germany 1909- 1920

Here are some stamps you don't see too often. The boys knives are from top to bottom, Fillmore Cutlery co., Howard Bros., Hacket Walter Gates (1902-1912), The hawkbill is stamped Henry Sears Co. Prussia (predates the "& Sons") possibly when they were in Rockford, Ill. They used this stamp from 1865, (the year of their logo"1865") until 1878, and the candle end serpentine jack is stamped Midland Cutlery Co. Kansas City Mo. and was made in Germany.____Dave

The Filmore was a Millard Filmore Robeson brand. Probably of German origin.

Thanks Charlie. Levine didn't have anything on it and I've never gone on line doing any more research. I'll have to find my records on this knife and add that info. to it. Was this a Robeson import brand?____Dave

Vermont Cutlery Co. --- 1898 as per Goins'. Half stops x 2 and 2 5/8" closed. Snappy little gentleman.

I posted this in new pick ups, then thought about this thread. Turner and Jepson, Sheffield, maybe 1800s??? Excellent snap and half stops for its age, thought maybe someone had repaired it the way the pins are cut off??? Not experienced enough to know for sure.

Nice knife Bill, great old pattern. I have a few of them and for some reason the pins in that pattern seem to want to turn a little over the years and I think all of my show the pins a little.___Dave

Great looking knife Bill ... The blade looks like a lambsfoot though not sure - usually those old Sheffield patterns had "Real Lambsfoot" deep stamped on the blade - perhaps it is a sheepsfoot but overtime and some sharpening took down the edge abit... the stag is beautiful!

It sure does Dimitri, that is a good looking knife, and love the wharncliff blade I don't have any of that style yet but it sure does look good. I believe that is called a serpentine isn't it???

Tidmarsh is indeed a mystery in a sense and no doubt old and rare - Tweedale doesn't even have him listed and I think Tweedale did a pretty good job including lots of Sheffield makers with background (of course he may have missed a few despite him being pretty comprehensive) ... I have seen a few Tidmarsh patterns online - This percussion pistol knife is way too cool ... and if I understood the description for this one the percussion pistol actually did work ... Not my knife but here is the photo:

Here you go Bill - Turner & Jepson was a merchant and manufacturer of table and spring knives, razors and scissors - Albion Works - on Cadman Lane in 1868 and last listed in 1883 (Jepson died in 1881)... There was some other info on both gentlemen related to their earlier years but not related to the Turner & Jepson venture..
