Probably the easiest way to pick up a knife with a Stanhope lens is through Anheuser-Busch knives. Not sure the new ones have them, but the older ones have a photo of Aldolphus Busch in them.

I was visiting an elderly couple years ago and the lady showed me a small collection of bone and ivory sewing trinkets or implements and half of them contained a Stanhope viewer, of which she was unaware.

They all contained scenes from the St. Louis World's Fair.

Ok I felt bad about the wise crack so I did some searching.

It's a "VC" knife. Or "VOM CLEFF & Co."
The word "vom" means "from" in German.

Don’t know just how obscure it is, but I just picked up this well-worn knife marked Alfred & Son Celebrated Cutlery.

Well, you've got a beauty there, William Adams. Nice catch.
Goin's encyclopedia states:
Alfred & Son celebrated cutlery, 1850-1875

Of course it has some blade loss; why wouldn't it?
It has some beautiful old wood.
A real find!

Here it is , cleaned up a little and oiled. I had heck trying to pry it open to do so...but now it works fine and is stunning under the light.

Obscure German knife Co?....

Alright friends, I've received my first fishing knife that was picked up off the bay. I have tried to research the brand and haven't had much luck.
Are there any others out there that might have one or more of this knife makers pieces in their collection? Anyone have history or know about how old this might be. It's a solid one, very clean and doesn't look to have been used. Not thinking that it's too old but y'a never know....

Not a knife but it will cut. Stamping is JOSEPH GRAY & SON SHEFFIELD FIRST PRIZE MEDAL LONDON 1862 SILVER MEDAL PARIS 1878. 3 3/4 inches closed with heavy brass handles. Hoped the handles were gold. Both fleams are very sharp.

Here is one that I feel very fortunate to have added.....4 3/8"
