All About Pocket Knives

Went to my favorite pawn shop today to trade in some scrap gold and ended up buying this imported Schrade for $10.00. I love the
size and weight.....it's crazy!

OAL is 6.5"

vw67... yours looks pretty close to this. Your shield looks to be more worn, or a slightly different one.Mine has just enough tang stamp left, to identify it as an Imperial. Probably from the 60's. Not worth much, monetarily...but a neat find, none-the-less.

The other knife is a paring knife stamped Stainless Steel Pat. # 1,967,472 and an emblem inset into the smooth black composition handle saying,"Dunlap approved Western Made" Cost me $2.

Somehow I missed this one.

That Western is model number 99PS, of the "Series No. 99" Western States Household Cutlery series. Only made in 1941, right before WW2 started. Bakelite handles. Came in carbon steel and stainless versions.

From the 1941 catalog -

METHOD OF ASSEMBLY

The handle is forced on spring tempered forks of blades. Forks are expanded until lugs reach recesses in handle where they drop into a permanent locking position and cannot be removed.

It’s kind of a mixed bag this week. I got the first two at the Red Barn/Vancouver Flea Market and the other three at the Cloverdale swap.
The little ‘End Of The Day’ celluloid is a Kent. Yes, she has a name. ‘Autumn’, obviously!
The really battered wreck it a mystery. I can see ‘Cutlery Co and the arched letters above it seem to end in ‘ford’.
I took pity on it and as it was only a buck, home it came. I used leather to fill the holes in the bone. Then I covered the leather in glue and gave it some texture. I’m going to get some brown nail polish to cover it. Yes, it exists.
The multi tool seems to actually be bone. All I can see on it is ‘Japan’. Seems fairly old, and look at the can opener. Actually, I’m arguing with my buddy Leon over whether it’s a can opener or fish line cutter.
The little pearl is a Wostenholm. I like the fancy file. It was $5, so I probably did ok.
Last is the fish serving knife. The tag says c1820 but I really suspect that handle is French Ivory. I’m going to guess more like 1920. I really like the engraving so what the heck. It was five bucks too and I probably did get ripped off.
So, at least I didn’t get skunked and the Kent and Wostenholm are actually quite nice.

Nice little pearl Lobster. Any markings on tang ?

I found the 2 Bokers Saturday at the flea market. I found the Hen & Rooster, same day at the pawn shop. Can someone please help me out with the years that these might have been made? Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum for questions.

Just got two today! The Blue Grass is a good looking for dress or show. The Rough Rider is a knife that just feels good. I love the weight, how smooth the blades open and the snap is perfect.

Two good pick ups David.

Today’s haul includes a couple interesting knives and an old adjustable wrench. The most interesting are the top left two, a German made Sword and Shield (which I’ve never heard of) and a gentleman’s knife stamped by C K & Co, Germany (which is understand was a Colonial brand). I also picked up a fixed blade Hammer Brand and a Colonial fish knife, both are very rusty and a Barlow shaped lineman’s knife marked “The Ideal” which I also know nothing about. I’m curious if anyone knows anything about the Sword and Shield or the C K & Co?

Not sure which knife you're referring to my friend....I scored a couple fixed blades.

Stopped by my favorite thrift store today and found a genuine Camillus TL-29 for under $10, not too bad for a Tuesday! Shown as found and uncleaned, still trying to date it but I suspect it is from the 60's-70's. I have a couple of other TL-29's but this is the first I've found with the model number stamped on the hardwood handle.
