You're very welcome Monk. I'm happy with my side of the trade too. I've got 7 more stag Trappers, if you're interested.

Nice knives, Ralph and Monk.

Here's a neat old 35 1/2 I got recently. The "no shield" model.
When this thing snaps it moves the furniture!

Thank you Mike and Monk.

I didn't know either, Mike. I had to check Steve's book. He shows it in Pattern 35.
Thanks again, guys.

::tu:: I just bought a Case Trapper with the yellow handles in Cv. This will be my new EDC to use and abuse as a work knife. It was new in box, but it was on display in the knife display case. This knife was made in 2008 and was priced @ $43.98, since they had it for so long I bought it for $37. I thought it was a great buy i just couldn't resist! ftd

Just when I thought I was done collecting vintage Case knives this one practically jumped into my hand and I just couldn't put it down (kind of like the stray dog or cat that adopts you instead of the other way around!).

Yes, beautiful knife, Q. Is that a 55?

Ferguson, I have that same knife. I bought it from Smokey Mountain Knife Works in about 1991.
I lost it for several months. I was sick about it. My son found it for me. I was real glad to have it back.
Nice knife, yours.

I do believe it is a #55, Joe...but, since I am by no means an expert on vintage Case knives (nor anything else, for that matter), all I can tell you is that it's what I have always called a "small cigar" and sometimes heard referred to as an "equal end whittler." The only identification reference I have to go by is the "Case Tested XX" tang stamp...so, I'm supposing it was made in the 1920-40 era. But, man, I just love that greenbone...that and the old redbone is something Case really got right in the early years. Sure wish they would go back to that level of manufacturing. That's partly why I've started collecting GEC and Northwoods...they seem to be replicating some of that old style quality that made Case so popular (impo)...and, as some of you will recall, I was NOT particularly impressed by my first experience with GEC...but, all that has changed and I am now a HUGE fan of GEC knives (as some others of you will most certainly know). But, in the end, Case, GEC, Northwoods, Queen, Schatt & Morgan, etc., the name on the tang doesn't matter to me so long as it's well-made, functional and pleasing to the eye--I just love knives!

Cheers & Aloha,
~Q~

Here's a nice 6214. It has great springs as you would expect to find on these knives and 1/2 stops.
And made just before Case started putting Delrin on them.
What a great little knife.
