GSP, all 4 of them are doing well, Barney just had his Second birthday. His coat is a lot like Zeus's.

Nothing to brag about in a while. Went to my first auction in a while yesterday. Got out bid on a very nice Plumb single, not a mark on the poll, and a equally nice Keen Cutter double. I did get this True Temper Kelly Works for $10, and a box lot with the no name double, a brush hook, the yellow snatch block, and a very rusty shingle hatchet, that I misplaced already, so it's not in the pic.
Nice haul

the well was dry for me for the longest time but the past couple of weekends I found a few items of interest

a wards 2xbit and a Plumb single. Also a machete with a really bad re-handle job and some clippers.
Thanks, the two that got away were really nice, but I was there to buy something else and only had so much money.
I like that Wards, I wonder when they quit selling axes? I guess before they went under, haha. I like all plumbs. The one that got away was one of the nicest I've seen. It went for about $20.

Not an axe , but kinda . Hope you guys don’t mind if I post a couple pics of an old adze I got
This belonged to my great uncle . He was a carpenter from 1890 ‘s to 1938 when he got injured and couldn’t work anymore. I inherited the trunk of tools in the picture. Lots of cool stuff in there . Anyway , just got interested in collecting axes and hatchets and the reason for looking at this thread .
From what I remember of the markings , this thing is from the mid to late 1880’s . The handle is wonderful to hold in hand . It still cuts well , but it’s retired now to just me lookin at it .

Both, I have a few handles and I am restoring them with linseed oil etc. Bit I have more picks than handles... so I will have to make a few.

Back in the 1970s I bought some tools at the local JC Penney's store. It was a larger JC Penney store than I had seen in smaller towns, but I remember specifically some screwdrivers with the brand name of Penncrest. I know they had other tools there also.
And now, I am remembering that someone made knives for JC Penney's also, I think it may have been Schrade.
Aha! I found opposed they had made somewhere else with a JC Penny's display of knives. Think they may have a little Schrade DNA in them?

I don't know who made your JC Penney's hatchet, but I am certain the Penncrest name was JC Penney's even though it may not appear on the knives.
Interesting to see this, does anyone know how many of these knives were made or if ever went into production? I am curious to know if anyone has any of those knives and I have the 9630 Whittler. Hope to hear back something, I been trying to find another for quite sometime with nothing coming up.No there isn’t any tang stamp just the logo on blade.

Besides Axes, and Chainsaws, I collect Garden tractors. The other day I saw pics of a JC Penny lawn tractor. I forget the name on it, but it started with Penn. Back when Sears "Had Everything". Every one else tried to keep up?
