Found this handy WESTERN L48ABG with worked on scales at the flea market couple weeks ago.
Asked MuskratMan if he could rehandle. He agreed.
Bookmatched Cocobolo wood....beautious!!

Wow! That changed the looks completely. I like that better than the stacked leather.

My prize for the month from my club meeting is this Eugene Shadley he made as a proto type, but never went into production. He then sold it to a friend who has held it from around 1990 until a month ago when that guy sold it to another friend who was holding it for me until I could save up a few more bucks than I had last month. I wanted one of Shadley's knives 20 years ago but I never felt I could quite afford the plunge. The feel of the knife is impressive in your hand and the workmanship is incredible. The handles are deer antler. ____Dave

Picked up this little Kabar 1026 today at the antique store I frequent. First Kabar pocketknife.

This is a pile of much less expensive knives than the Shadley . Top going clockwise is a Frost appaloosa bone, a HS&B cattle, an Ulster French ivory, a Case 2 dot, a Western USA camper, a Robeson electricians, a HS&B, another Ulster and a NYK hawk that has been badly repined. ___Dave

Dave, you have been busy this weekend, that is a great haul. I really like that Jean Shadley knife, I bet you are going to enjoy that one for years.

Well Dave my friend, you sure have a nice pile to play with on your birthday. I'm not familiar with the maker of the proto type but it looks like a real healthy knife, meant to use. The nail nicks are unique to say the least. I'm going to see if I can find Eugene Shadley on the www and learn something.
The old electricians knife makes me think of TJ Murphy.

Here’s today’s haul. Some of you may cry. I’m sorry.
The very old one is French, ‘veritable cuillere brussard’. I got it as a throw in, free. Is very battered.
The Gentleman’s is gold filled. The fellow was asking twelve bucks but I gave him fifteen because he noticed the gf after he told me the price and he’s a regular.
The Premium Stock is made in Germany and seems to be a Hardin. It was five bucks.
I got the other two from the sams seller as the Stock. He was asking $5 for big knives and two for $5 for small. So...
One collectable 2016 special edition Victorinox
One Case XX 62132.
Both are in beautiful shape. $5 CANADIAN for the pair.

Zoogirl,
I would have responded sooner, but I was in shock!

The little Case for $2.50 ( about 2 cents US

) is a tremendous deal IMHO. Lucky you!
Were these from the Vancouver Flea Market?
Well done!

Ann,
I don't know much about the exchange rate something like one US dollar is worth $1.34 Canadian.

Either way you got a fantastic deal, we all dream of deals like that, big knives $5, little knives two for $5!

That's part of the fun, finding good knives for a good cheap price.

I got them at the Cloverdale Swapmeet in Surrey. The table was run by a couple of fellows I assume to be from India. They had a couple of bins of random corkscrews and multi knives. I went through and nabbed the best three.
I love Stock knives, especially if they say Premium and most especially if they are very dark red.
The Case made me grab as quick as I could before it evaporated like the mirage I thought it was!

I knew right away it was worthwhile and when I looked it up...
As for The Victorinox, I just loved the graphics and the quote “The mountains are calling and I must go...”. I didn’t realize that it was a limited edition until I got it home.
I do like my little Gentleman’s knives. I have a decent little collection and this is one of the best.
I had a good day!

Look at you Ann!! Nice pickups and I really like the gold gentleman's knife. I'll have to post a pic of my small collection of gentleman's knives one day.

Currently $1.86 USD, if the condition is as good as it looks to be in the picture, that 2001 Canoe would most likely sell on eBay for a minimum of $40 USD ($53.64 CAD). You sure have a talent of being in the right place at the right time. Congrats.

Thought you folks might get a kick out of this one. We were doing the final clean-out at my father-in-law's house before closing, and I found this.
Not exactly a knife, but distant cousin with common roots. Would've been an interesting add-in on the Richards article in Knife World, LOL
Interesting construction too.
