First English Sabre I've ever seen, Ann. Nice find, definitely grab the smaller one if available.

That shell-handled two-tone Richards scout is rare enough that the dent on the pile side hurts my heart...

Yes, but at least it’s the pile side. It’s my first Richards two-tone. They continue to surprise me with the variety of colour and configuration. It’s part of what makes hunting ‘em fun. I actually have to look at every single knife in a box because there’s just no telling what may be an incognito Ricky!

Dave, i can see why you had to have that German one! It’s wickedly elegant, ain’t it?!

Ann, yeah, I took a chance on it not knowing anything other than I liked it and knew and trusted the seller who said the only other one he had ever seen was valued at much more than he was asking. I found a mint one on line today that was priced at $400 more than mine cost, and a black plastic handled one for $200 more than I paid. Some times taking a chance pays off even when money is tight. It appears the knife is from the 1930's. ___Dave

I try to remove as much rust as possible.....without wearing down the metal.
A little #2 pencil, some fine steel wool....and usually I'm good to go.

I ask, because I'm always trying to learn from everyone. What you have described is basicly what I do most of the time. I also use some WD-40 sometimes in the cleaning process. Thank you Scott.

Very nice haul!
I particularly like the three blade at the bottom and the two stag fixeds. The lowest little fixed looks home made. Is it? The wire handled fixed has me very curious. Dunno why, but it seems old to me.
Dir110, I don’t clean much either. I like HOK’s and I just don’t want to make a worse mess. I’ll pretty much stick to the pencil with maybe a bit of alcohol if some twit stuck a big price tag on it.

I want to thank Scott for not scooping up all the knives this morning!

We were at the same flea market and when I called him he was already back at home, said something about runnin' out of money.

Sorry we didn't cross paths this morning.
Here's the pile of stuff I came away with, the bunch included 5 or 6 that were worth while. A decent Boker USA, a Camillus stainless with a MoorMan etch on the clip, a J.A. Henckles steel, a little Old Timer, a straight razor, an Uncle Henry 168 USA. Concerning the rest, some are suspect to having been at one time a decent knife and other are subject to be deported. Several were made by the famous knife maker, Pak I. Stan. Those might make good fodder for the next POS roundtable.

The reason the junkers came home with me is an ol' boy bundled them with the good ones and offered them at price I would have paid just for the ones I wanted in his pile.

He made the offer and I asked him to throw in the UH Schrade+168 USA and here we are.
I did find a very nice tool cabinet, appears not to have been used, at least there is no evidence of anything being in it and there are no dings and scratches. I know it's not an antique but it'll be fine for some of my knives!

Phil, no wonder your shoulders and knees are hurting! Lugging around a haul like that takes it's toll. Some sweet looking stuff there but all of it doesn't over shadow that tool box. That is quiet a pick up. Did Miss Joy have to pick up the tab for lunch?

Nice haul you guys. I'm gonna have to get to a Florida flea market some time. Phillip, you don't often see a machists tool box in that condition. Even as fussy as most machinists are (at least the ones I've known) they are usually pretty oil stained and scuffed up.

We've about run the wheels off Miss Joy's Fusion, went to Panama City Beach this morning to start knee shots then back north through our town to the next town, Graceville to get a hair cut and to pick up our little black hearted Dachshund alarm system from friends who kept him while we were gone to Central Florida. Miss Joy likes to go with me to the barbershop as there is an antique/junk store next door. Look what jumped up out of one of the little glass covered display cases, hidden amongst the earrings and necklaces:

: Ontario Knife 611, unsharpened but a few stains that Mothers will take care of.

Floyd, I was able to afford the lunch tab, just added a few more points to my card.

Bruce, the tool box is new or at least it hasn't been used. I Googled the brand name Trinity and found they are still being made.
