What is the handle material on that Buck? It looks like wood. I have seen them in the molded black phenolic and in slab micarta. This looks different. Maybe just my monitor?

TR, your eyes are not deceiving you - it is indeed wood, a laminate of some type, not sure what Buck called it. Let me check a 1985 catalog I have. OH

TR, it wasn't mentioned in my 1985 catalog, but I found this information on the other Buck Forum (at BladeForums): the handle is impregnated birch, sometimes called rosewood (but not real rosewood). Based on the blade grind, the blade steel could be 440C. OH

Tim, thanks for the compliment on my lucky find Buck. Please have no worries over "not getting back sooner" - it isn't necessary - besides, no one can keep up with all the threads and comments. OH

Used my Ontario Gen II SP43 to whack some weeds in the garden this morning...dang things were shading out my pepper plants, can't have that! I really like this knife, falls somewhere between a knife and a machete for me...gets used alot clearing trails and shooting lanes, making kindling for fires, etc. The 5160 steel takes an edge real well and resharpens easily.

Just cleaned this Kershaw Roughneck in preperation for this weekend's outdoor activites...

Three blades with no stamps. I assume they're home forged. I especially like the dark handled one. It feels balanced in the hand.

Fixed blade and folder in one. 2005 Scagel fixed large blade, folding small blade.

Picked this up at an antique shop today for $12. Large knife appears to be hand made and the small one marked,"Hunter" is by Colonial. Sheath looks professionally made. Wonder if there was another large blade in place of this one? Has since been cleaned up.

Buck 120 with a stag handle, circa 1981 (new grind) probably 425 MOD steel. OH

Here's 2 Jeff Hebeison knives and 2 Doc Molenaar knives. Doc's are Masadon ivory and a intrigal frame with wood (I forget what kind). Jeff's are handled in Carbon fiber and mircarda if I remember right.

Small 1981 [E] H 48B Western in a Marbles Sheath
Note- no ill effects from this sheath in over a month, seems o.k.
I added a Camillus retainer strap to tighten up.
