Here's an old Rodgers stamped "CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY", so it must date before 1901 when they changed to "HIS MAJESTY"> and the Rodgers hallmark on the pile side. 3-1/8", ivory. Can't tell what the blade configuration was, maybe a quill., pretty worn down. J.O'.

Does anyone recognize this :"GPO 69" tang stamp on a small (3-3/8") Joseph Rodgers hawkbill ? It's on the mark side and the Rodgers logo is on the pile side. Maybe "Government Post or Printing Office"??? Any help appreciated. J.O'.

That knife was issued by the general post office in 1969 used by the telephone engineers when GPO was the supplier of telephone services prior to 1981.

Thank you Gents. It's a really nice piece, looks unused and hasn't been re-sharpend. The wood appears to be ebony which, in 1969, had to be on the way out. Thanks again. J.O'.

Here are two Joseph Rogers. I found that the second knife was advertising a paint company in Dutch Indonesia.

Here is an ivory handled Thomas Ellin sportsman's knife which used "Vulcan" as one of its trade marks.
It dates to the early 1900s.

petekuhn, wonderful group of old English pruners and Barlows. And a great etch on that Bowie.
