All About Pocket Knives

Thanks gents, been too busy with business to play with it. On my way home now, will get to sharpen the Clip and change it out this afternoon once I get home. Pretty nice haul Scott. OH

Ulster ebony 3 5/8 inches, snappy hard half stops. I think the spiderwebby accents complement the black wood nicely. Blades are still slick, uncleaned obviously.

Just picked these 3 up for The princely sum of $6
D Peres , western Boulder CO 241 and a Hammer Brand letter opener/ Knife. All knives have great snap and no wobble. Blades look to be 100% full

$6.00, were the police following you when you left. That's a steal. Great pick up's with unusual tang stamps.

nope! I do need to research that D Peres nifty little knife. It has half stops and the MOP is pretty darned nice.

This week's finds and mail calls.. I can't keep from passing up a good deal. The Schrade,sod buster, Eisenhower, cigar, klaas, and robeson don't appear to have been sharpened. The little 6333 LP is one of my favorite patterns and I struggle with letting one get past me. ~Jon

Jon, those Case 55 pattern jackknives are to me the most aesthetically pleasing of all Case jacks. Nice haul!

Twhite, I have one of those letter openers (mine is tang stamped IKCO) that was gifted to me by a fellow AAPK member several years ago - use it nearly everyday - best letter opener I've had.

Today’s new little friends -
A brown celluloid Richards, to join the two larger ones I already have, a little gold tone Richards and a flippin’ Whatsit. I’ll be darned if I can see any markings on the thing. It’s kind of cool, actually. To open and close it, you sort of flip the handle around. It’s not a butterfly knife. I don’t know what it is. I had to fix up the tip of the blade. It was completely squared off. It’s actually pretty sharp and very solid in the open position. Anyway, it was only a buck!

The wife and I just got back from junking. Here are today’s finds. $5 each.
Wards 2 blade. Nice snap no wobble.
Case 1974 peanut really nice snap no wobble.
Camillus US 1994 need to soak in some paint thinner to get better idea. Everything’s opens just Funke’s up with paint.

Great bargains for $5 a piece. I especially like the little case peanut.

More Richards for Zoogirl!! And the whatsit has a name but darn if I can remember it right now. But they are knice little pocket riders.

That Ulster is an appealing, pocketable and very useful knife. Bound for a utilitarian career, it was never the less made by skilled and prideful Ellenville personnel with finish and elegance.

That is one pattern I like and use, the Regular Jack, provided they are “beefy”, which for me means that it is suitable for cutting up to three-quarter-inch rope. And, I have concluded that the adjective “beefy” in the pattern generally does not start until the knife is at 3 5/8th inch overall length. Three and one quarter tends to drop a similarly-styled knife down into a different category, one of lighter duty.

I like those “spiderwebs”, too. There is no technique I know of that will actuate artificial application of those to a knife blade; for me they instill confidence that a knife has not been messed with.

And, those are indeed impressive-looking blades.
