I suspect it’s the perspective of the camera lens.

He’s back home today, when I asked he said the fish in the picture was 21 inches long. They caught a lot of trout but that was the biggest. He’s been an avid fly fisherman for a long time as is his brother. Where they got that from I don’t know - I prefer worms myself.

Wade, it's a close up of this ol' gal's nose:

This picture was apparently right before the "nose closeup". Notice the time on the pictures. She must have noticed the camera. It emits a tiny red light when it senses heat, I think. In fact, I noticed last year, another camera at about 130 yards from a stand with the red light blinking as deer moved around a feeder after shooting hours. Years ago when I was living in Central Florida I was told some of the old boys had red filters on their headlights (headlight is proper name for a "one eyed dog" that folks used to hunt at night, coon hunting of course

). The red light didn't alarm the deer like a white light.

Ahhh, I get it.

I have one of those “headlights” I use it for driving my old tractor out in the field after dark to retrieve the deer I shoot since the old tractor doesn’t have working headlights. The other night when I was retrieving the last doe I shot, I thought to myself, “It sure would be hard explaining to old green britches why the pastor is driving around the field at night on a tractor with a spotlight.” Then I thought about the fact that I had my state trooper neighbor’s kid out there with me and figured maybe I could explain it away! Lol

Redrider, Like gdogg, I'm seeing 2 deer in all of the pictures except the 1st one. Great pictures, keep 'em coming!

Gdogg, you need a better seat my friend.

Find you an old office chair in the back room that's too good for the big dogs to sit in and put in in your blind.

I noticed the ol' 99 aint in the blind today?

cudgee, do y'all eat those fish? The top picture shows some beautiful markings on that fish and that last one, he's a humdinger! Are they freshwater fish?

Yes mate, they are a freshwater species, only in certain river systems, not widespread. And they are classed as an eating delicacy. I had some prepared properly by 2 old timers and without a doubt the best fish i have ever eaten. All of this available to the public now in retail outlets and restaurants is farmed, and it is not a patch on what you catch in the wild. But they are a crafty old fish and not easy to catch.

There's actually 4, but the two up the hill are behind trees and hard to see. I only noticed them when they moved. All 4 were does and on the small side.

Great pics and now I'm hungry for some fish.

My oldest son, who gets his smart alecness from his mother’s side of the family, just came up to me and said.

“You know that little doe you killed opening day? Well she may not have been a trophy but she scored high in the Spoon and Crockpot Club’”. Rofl.
