Cuz, you'll know you're too far gone when you whip out your knife in the pulpit and show the congregation what you're carrying that day.

"And today, brothers and sisters, I'm carrying this short line, bone handle Camillus #69, with nickel silver bolsters, pins and liners jimped both top and bottom. Can I get an amen?"

Hey Jerry,
Your comment just gave Miss Joy and I, a good laugh! Didn't you say your dad was a pastor? I read some where, here on AAPK, to never trust a man who doesn't carry a knife. Colonel26 is the right kind of preacher, even if he ain't a Southern Baptist  . (that sure is a great lookin' ol' knife)
Thanks for waking us up a little more this morning! ::handshake::

Lol. Jerry the sad part about that is that at my church showing off your new pocket knife or gun (out in the parking lot of course) is completely normal and accepted.

Treefarmer, I did peach a Southern Baptist deacon ordination once. Does that help? Lol

That's a complement from someone that lives in Alaska. I'm in Southern California about 90 miles east of Los Angeles overlooking the San Jacinto Valley. The snow capped peak is Big Bear and the lake (reservoir) is Diamond Valley Reservoir.

We don't always get clear days like this.

Never spent any time in the southwest but always wanted to check it out. Looking at those photos, I sorta expect to see Gene Autry & Champion come around the hill. :)

By the way, today I'm carrying this well loved Kabar and my Tidioute Boys knife.

Interesting Congress Sandy! I really like the long stepped bolsters on the knife.

Two TESTED comp knives for me today. Farmers Jack and a Boys Knife. Not sure what it is about the old TESTED era blade material but it gets razor sharp, that is for damn sure.

Regards, Jerry

Thanks Sandy. That boy's knife was well cared for but used quite a bit. That blade started out as a spear blade but still sharp as a razor and alot of life left in it.

Thanks Bob! Real nice lockback you have there. Beautiful knife! Makes me want to yank one of my CASE "Hornets" out of my collection and carry it. Nice one!

Yes, they are also referred to as Slim Trapper for both the single and two blade CASE 048 patterns. Alot of collectors refer to the single blade CASE 048 pattern, especially the older ones as Farmers Jacks, for whatever reason, probably because that was the nickname given in the catalog at the time. I have several original old CASE catalogs and in #70 (1967' to 1974'), they refer to the 048 as the "Stockman's - Truck Framer's -Sportsman's". Verbatim from the catalog. I think most people use Slim Trapper nowadays.

The CASE Hornets I mentioned are also called the "Backpacker" by some due to it being a very light weight lockback. Go figure!

Regards, Jerry

Awesome knives as usual Jerry. I don't have any experience with tested era steel, but my XX era I always thought had better steel than the later eras.

I packed this old Sta Sharp today. I don't have pics since I sharpened it, but here are the ones right after I got it.
