I think even those in the Winterbottom Fan Club would agree that genuine Winterbottom Bone is preferable to Delrin. But, as far as Delrin goes, I think this single blade Queen #51 isn't too bad, and perhaps even a little nicer than a lot of what's out there.

Not too sure what the thinking was with the bolster rivets...certainly is different though.

If we're going to faux anything, I prefer this.

Easier. Quicker. Time is money. I have a Queen 99 from the workhorse series that has those bolster pins. 313Mike gave it to me for Christmas one year.

This is one of my favorites. The handles and shield are attractive but it's the Wharncliffe secondary blade and the threaded bolsters that do it for me.

What are you saying John? Are you saying you bought one or are you saying they're on sale at SHC?

Here's one to start the week. It's not "Toasted Marshmallow Natural Bone" but it's different.

I couldn't find a "Toasted Marshmallow Bone" 07 at Shepherd Hills. John, are you just teasing the Monkey (poking him with a marshmallow toasting stick through the bars of his cage) or perhaps having a hearty laugh sending us on a wild goose chase and watching us chase our tails around in circles? Please clarify. :?

jerryd, that "Magician" Mini-T certainly is different with the two shields and different color bone on each side...very unique.

Speaking of different...Here's another unusual one. Can't say as I've ever seen both stag and burl wood combined on a single knife before, but for some reason Gerber thought it was a good idea (me, not so much). ::undecided::

Those 6.5 Bone Stag are as common as hair on a dog's back. They must be a really good seller.

Today's offering.

Philip, there are waaaaay more than the few you see here. The 07's are a real money pit and for the new collector (or anyone else for that matter) I suggest you stay away from them unless you really like rice and beans.

QTcut5... I really like your 6.5 bone stag. Even though jerry6818 thinks it is really common...I like it lot. I hope he is correct on those being common and easily found for purchase. I will be adding one to my collection in the future. Hope to find one with handles/covers that match as well as yours :D

I counted at least 7 on eBay ---► https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... e&_sacat=0
And
One on SMKW ---► https://www.smkw.com/catalogsearch/resu ... +bone+stag
And
Some on Shepherd Hills (qty unknown) ---► https://www.casexx.com/Details/?Product ... 5&Patid=36
And
Plenty of other places ---► https://www.google.com/search?source=hp ... 1283978238

So no need to worry about finding one. ::handshake::

Thanks, Louis V. Boy...jerryd is correct about the 6.5 Bone Stag being quite common; seems there's always one or more for sale at any given time on eBay. Nevertheless, it remains a popular handle material and I rarely see any (new) 6.5207Ws sell for less than $45 - $50 at auction.

I guess today I'll follow jerryd's lead once again (MSMD ::nod:: ) and go with jigged red bone. Although similar in hue, this one is called "Tested Red" instead of "Crimson Red."

P4180023.JPG
P4180024.JPG
Little known, long-forgotten historical fact: "Tested Red Tide" was the original name of 'Bama's athletic teams until sports editor Hugh Roberts single-handedly changed it to "Crimson Tide" after the 1907 football game against Auburn (no, seriously...true story...just ask Papa Bones, I'm sure he'll back me up!) ::uc:: ::skeptic::

Here's my Mini TrepPER DIEM. Certainly not one I ever thought I'd own in a million years. I blame three (3) parties for influencing me to get it:
1) Case Design Dept. - I can't help but wonder if this 07 was their (winning) entry in The Ugliest Knife In The World contest.
2) Shepherd Hills Sales & Marketing Dept. - for setting the price so low ($19.99) that collectors would actually buy such a knife
...and, of course...
3) jerryd - influencer extraordenaire non pareil

The crazy thing is that even though I can't decide if it looks more like dog vomit, the bottom of a stagnant cesspool or the floor of an abattoir at closing time I actually like it! ::uc:: ::nod:: particularly the bas relief "shield"
