All About Pocket Knives

Belmont Cutlery -- 4 1/4" Cattle. Big Hunk of a knife. I have seen this shield on Cattaraugus, New York Knife, OVB HIbbard & Marshal Wells.
Any idea of whom may have made it?? I know some of you guys collect Big Ole Cattle knives & I thought you might recognized the Unusual blade configuration. All I can think of is maybe "Walden Knife Co" since Goins says its an EC Simmons brand. MANY Thanks for your help

Oh yea, that knife. I still have that one although a bunch have asked me to sell it. I thought you meant a tickler pattern knife. I'm glad to see that stuff your posting and selling.

Believe it or not, We had some good laughs over that particular knife with the fella you had a hard time with,,,LOL. I wont mention no names at all for privacy matters, lmao. For some reason or another that guy & I have gone back for like 20yrs now. I use to buy knives from him when i was just a kid bro

Don't know much about this brand but seems to be made very well.

Here is a celluloid handled oldie from Johnson Cutlery Co. of Des Moines, IA. I found it at the NCCA show in Mystic, CT in 2018. Goins and Levine's Guide, 4th Ed. say they were only around for about two years (circa 1929-1931).

It's 3-3/8" closed Ike. More or less in what I think of as the sweet spot of 3.5" for carrying knives.

Here is one of the most appealing pen knives that i have. It is quite plain but well made and almost elegant with the very black ebony handles that are nicely rounded to give some 'body' to the knife. 2 3/4", both blades marked "James/Dewsnap/Sheffield" noted in Goins with dates 1850-1875.

Thanks for your kind words. What makes a knife 'special' is not just the looks. It is just as much the in hand feel and sensation imparted by blades as you open and close them. However we cannot share 'feel' over the internet, yet.
