I just wanted to relate an interesting experience I recently had. In the process of cleaning and reorganizing, I realized that I had a bunch of gun parts on hand that I no longer needed. So I collected them in a box and contacted online the Gun Parts Corp, who is a big outfit that buys and sells parts for all types of guns. I sent them an email with my list of parts, and they made me an offer which I accepted. So I seal up the box, address it to them and take it to the UPS Store to ship it. When I entered the UPS Store, there was a 20 something young lady working at the counter, so I handed the box to her and said I needed to ship it out today. She looked at the name I was sending to ( Gun Parts Corp) and quickly handed the box back to me as if I had handed her a live rattle snake. "We cant ship guns" was her reply to me. I explained to her that there were no guns in the small box I had, only some small parts that were not even for the same gun. "No, we cant ship guns" she repeated. I offered to open the box so she could see for herself. "If you open the box, I will call the police", was her reply. So I gave up and left. I headed to FEDEX. which accepted my package and it was on the way. When I got home I did some investigating about the UPS Store and I found out that despite the name, they have nothing to do with UPS. The ones locally here are owned by an out of state business, which I found online and called a number listed for that company. Shockingly, the owner of the business answered the phone himself. I explained to him that I had been refused service in his place of business and I wanted to file a complaint. I explained the situation to him and he apologized, but went om to explain that his policy is what the young lady told me, they cannot ship guns or any gun parts, because if they ever had a violation where they did ship a firearm, they would lose their contract to partner with UPS and would be out of business. I asked him if his employees had any training to identify what is a gun or what are gun parts, as the serial numbered part is what constitutes the gun. Every thing else is just parts and can be shipped anywhere. He apologized again, but stated that what had happened was the policy of his business. I informed him that I had taken my package to FEDEX and they shipped it with no problems.
Just some info for anyone who may be shipping thru the UPS Store in the future.

Interesting story. Hopefully the owner does not own any UPS stores near me.

Just tell β€˜em that its tools
If you ever want to ship an actual gun, good luck. There is NO way an individual can ship a firearm with any common carrier.
Even as an FFL my only option is USPS. The somewhat local (15 miles away) UPS service center closed this year. Closest real UPS is 100 miles. No idea about FedEx.

I had been looking for an inexpensive bolt action 22 at the gunshows recently, and had not come up with anything. Older bolt Remington or Winchester rifles run $250-300 unless they are really beat. Other brands seem to be marked about that same price. I was looking around the local pawn shops and ran into this Stevens 300 on the rack. I checked it over and ended up getting it for a C-note. Bore is brilliant, bluing good, had a little surface rust on the bolt which quickly cleaned up. This would be the same as the Savage MKII F, but without the accutrigger. The trigger on this Stevens is very good, may have been stoned and smoothed up. Initial testing indicates that it will shoot a group with CCI Minimag HPs.

gdogg,
In Florida folks start archery in the Everglades during August and the season moves north and west over a couple of months. Our Panhandle archery season started last Saturday. The same basic pattern goes for muzzleloaders and finally modern firearms.
Here in the Panhandle we have a short 4 day firearm season on Thanksgiving. Closes for a week, then opens for a week of muzzle loaders, then opens through next to the last week of February and finally closes with another week of muzzle loaders. Theoretically a feller can deer hunt 7 months in the Sunshine State.
Bag limit is now 5 deer per season.

Leupold on a pre-64 Model 70? Aren't you afraid that a rifle that "kinda old" might go off in the woods and injure a deer?

Picked up this little Sheridan single shot pistol over the weekend. I've been told this is the only firearm Sheridan built.

Didn't they also make pellet guns? Same company?

Nice little pistol. Very likely could be the same company, I never thought of it to look into it.

That is really neat, I have never seen one. Is it a break action single shot?
