Traded knives with a buddy yesterday; gave him a NOS Camillus Official BSA Scout Knife for his slightly used Case Junior Scout. OH

I can attest to the fact that bright handle covers can be very practical. I leave an orange copper lock in the kitchen/dining area that is impossible to misplace and gets used multiple times a day e.g. mail, food packaging, boxes. Wherever area the knife is moved to it is readily/instantly found. In the past, darker covered knives often required a search and rescue operation. Also some bright colors make for a more interesting display.

Went out looking for a vintage desk for my son's apartment and at one shop I asked the owner if he had any pocket knives for sale. He said that he had a box in his workshop of knives he's gotten it lot purchases at auctions over the years. These will all be available soon in my AAPK store.

Both Sundog and I realized that we were suffering from withdrawal symptoms as neither of us had bought a knife in the past several weeks. So yesterday we went prowling around several of our local antique malls. Sundog picked up a real nice Camillus EZ open jack and I found the 3 pictured below.

A. W. Wadsworth & Son, Germany bone handled whittler. It has the usual whittler layout with the tapered back, but instead of 2 smaller pen blades, one of them is a double sided file. Challenge Cut. Co. Bridgeport Conn. teardrop jack with ebony handles. Union Cut.Co. Olean NY ebony jack that needs a little work. Has a small chip out of the mark side handle and has had an "electrical problem". Close up of the "electrical problem". I also ran across a knife that some one had "doctored. It was tagged as an acorn knife, but actually it was a Kutmaster cattle knife that had the Federal shield modified to look like the Remington acorn, and the Kutmaster tang stamp ground off. What some people won't do to make a buck. Glad I learned about such things here on AAPK. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of it.

Another one Sundog and I ran across the other day at the antique mall that just struck both of us as ODD!!! It is a large kitchen knife that has a FUNERAL HOME ad on it. Neither of us bought it.

That is disturbing!

My two scores today(FINALLY!). Been having a dry spell of late and this was a welcome change.
The figural shoe knife is by Lenox Cutlery Germany and has very unusual cel handles. Cost me $10.
The brass handled knife is a Humason & Beckley and has a pretty full blade. That one cost me $3.00.

Found these today from a fellow flipper girl who holds them until she sees me!!

Got this little Corn Knife from my brother in law from his folks estate sale. It is marked R KLASS, Prussia. I suppose this means it was made before WW2. R KLASS was a razor company in Prussia then. It lookes like it was well used. I just read that the company was in business from 1900 to 1914.

That's a dandy corn knife!


I hit a couple antique stores today. There were some knives, but not really alot of what I like. I picked these up because the price was right.

The Okapi is pretty cool, I didn't have one of these. The black knife is a Kutmaster. I do not think it is a cobbled piece, but the blade combo is interesting. The bottom one is a Richter, a real tank, and despite it's condition, I couldn't pass it by. I also picked up the hammer, I really need another one of those.


This Buck 303 I believe may be from their custom shop. It's a synthetic covers, but basically a new knife, unused.

Thanks Glenn, and those are some interesting pick ups. Okapi always catches my eye. The bones on the Richter are pretty fabulous.

Home from the North Star Blade Collectors meeting with these. A Remington RH 405 in what I think is it's original sheath and I believe is a early fairly rare Remington, an 1845 to 1870's George Woodhead ebony jack, an Ulster fancy celluloid whittler, a red celluloid LF&C jack with Universal still etch on the blade, and on the way home from an antique shop, a 1915 era John Watts Sheffield pearl with full blades and like new snap.____Dave

Dave, that ebony jack looks like a real winner! They are all great but that one stands out to me.

Picked up a RR at the little local flea market today new in the box ,he wanted 12 offered 10 now I own a strawberry bone congress.

Dave that Remington and the Woodhead jack stand out to me. As stated above they all look good but those tickle my eyes a little.

What a knife is supposed to be . Solid, good looking and reasonable.
