I slid down the creek bank to get this pic of Cardinal flowers, and then wished I had someone along to give me a hand to pull me back up.

Is this a quiz? I would guess Crabapples but your question would indicate that these are on a shrub type plant, rather than a tree. I am not up on Florida flora, maybe a cherry bush from an old homestead?

Scott, I believe you've found a wild plum. Sometimes they are called "Hog Plums", you can probably find some info on them with an web search.

AKA TalloW Plums. Branches have spike. Very familiar with them.
These are not those, they are smaller and as seen, some are red. Tallow/Hog Plums don't get red from what I know.
Thanks though!!

I don't think those are chokecherry leaves but maybe you have a different variety down there. Our berries appear smaller too. ____Dave

Scott,
A couple of questions, what kind of the flesh was inside the fruit and how did it taste?

As some of you might know, I'm getting hitched on September 19th. So one of my brothers, one sisters' boyfriend and a work bud took me out and about on Friday after work and all day Saturday.
Friday was pretty low key, sat outdoors at an Irish bar in Old Town Alexandria and drank some pints. Then Saturday we all went to the Bull Run Shooting Center in Manassas and shot clays. It was a blast!!! They rent everything there if you're not equipped, reasonable prices too. Then they took me to an Axe throwing place that just opened in Fairfax, a lot of fun too. Headed back to my place and Ubered to DC to hit my favorite outdoor brewery, Bardo's on the Anacostia waterfront next door to Nats Park.
Around 11:30 we left on foot, thinking we would have no problem finding food around that area. Wrong! Turns out DC shuts down at Midnight now, not sure if that is some kinda Covid-19 restriction of just the restrauant managers' choice. Urbered back to my place and I boiled some hotdogs and served up some nightcap shots/shooters.
Sunday morning my work bud bailed before breakfast, but the three of us headed back to Old Town and grabbed brunch at Landini's before my sister's boyfriend had to drive back to NC. Got to see the Trump Boat Parade on the Potomac while there. Came home, my bro left and I took a 3 hr. nap, happy that I didn't have to work today!
