Lee, i will identify the makers when i get back in a few days. Mix of German, British & U.S.A.

Here is a tuxedo marked only "B.J. Proctor" which would lead one to think "Sheffield" but LG4 says only "Germany".
I will find the other tuxedos soon & post markings.

The last post on previous page shows pictures of 8 tuxedo pattern knives. Sorry for delay. Here is their ID:
Pearl from top - down: "Fillmore Cutlery Co" Germany; "Randall Hall & ??"; " 'XL'NT W. Harmant & Co"
Ivory: "Merrimac Germany"; "Pratt & Co Buffalo"; "William Rodgers Sheffield"
Tortoise: "Jones & Son" "Gernany"
Ebony: I cannot see anything, perhaps never marked.

Here is the one I found last week. Stamped Aussner(no info found on maker yet)it features one piece aluminum bolsters and liners with an insert of what I believe is some type of early plastic with inlays of abalone shell and a piece of silver rope.Sadly one blade is broken but for $2.95 I couldn't resist it.

that looks similar to the one I convinced my girlfriend to purchase at the Lehigh Valley Knife Show this last Saturday.

After doing a little research here on AAPK... the Lakeside brand was used by Montgomery Wards between 1922−1928.
Would be nice to find out who they contracted with to make it. Perhaps the same folks as your Aussner?

I've definitely seen a variety of nice Tuxedos in this thread but I didn't see one like this. It isn't as cool as a lot of the others but it's the only one I have.

Already posted this in the "Knife Lore" area of the board with the response stating the handles are ivory, altho the seller described them as bone.
The tang stamp on both blades are the same (sorry for the poor quality of the photo)... instead of the usual "Hammer Brand" logo being stamped one.
Can I interpret this as the knife being older than 1878, when they introduced the logo?
Was this pattern in vogue that early?

I have no idea. I asked about the tang stamp on another thread.
I was told by Miller Bro's that it said THE EAGLE CUTLERY, but not
where it was located. Just that it was probably European, most likely
in Germany. The knife came from a vendor in Wisconsin, so that seems
to make sense.

The idea of specifically carrying one of those in the vest pocket of your suit somehow appeals to me in an old timey way.
Full disclosure: I don't own a suit.

When Robeson started putting pattern numbers on their knives, sometime in the early 1900's, they gave this pattern the number 001.

Not sure it is a true "Tuxedo". I've always called it a balloon-ended swell-centered penknife.

Has a rare and I think, very early "ShurEdge" stamp. Circa 1903. Only knife I have ever seen with that stamp, as far as I can recall.
