Q
That is one of the Tractor Supply knives. An SFO for them, the shield is the giveaway, only Tractor Supply had them. Nice mini trapper.

Thanks Steve...I enjoyed learning about it from the other thread that you sent the link for. It's always interesting to know the history or any backstory associated with the knives I collect.
Here's my most recent 07 addition: 2005 Sky Blue 6207W. According to the seller (silverladdie), this is one of 500 made for the Case Tradewinds Collection.

Nice 1973 7 dot 6207, Steve, good score. I was bidding on a 1971 recently but lost it when the bidding went over my budget...it sold for $110.50. I will get a vintage model 07 one of these days, preferably a mint condition 10 dot, although those always seem to command top dollar, so I might have to settle for one in something less than mint condition.

Thanks Q. This one came from a members AAPK store. I can't wait to get my hands on it and clean it up some, it looks like it could use it. These don't show up as often as other patterns from the 70's from my limited experience. Could be my search terms suck too.

This is one of the few Case patterns I like enough to buy new. I think I have 2 or 3. I bought 2 several years ago when they had some horrible handle colors. One is chartreuse, make a good bass bait!

Dale, you've
got to post a photo...chartreuse bass bait...that's too funny!
Seriously, though...could it be any worse than the neon pink Lady Case Bubba Gum? (see photo on page 3 of this thread)

The new 6207W are a great knife, good size but not too large and a variety of handles. Plus the other variations that include the cap lifter or golfers tool.

Haven't seen any 07Ws with a cap lifter or divot tool, only 07 SS (with clip blade). Did Case make any 07W (Wharncliffe) models with those tools?

Q
That post was confusing. No, as far as I know, they didn't make W 07's with those tools. I intended to mean the usual 07 model came with those tools and without the spey balde. Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, my bad...I misread your post and got all excited thinking there were more 07Ws that I didn't know about. Thanks for setting me straight (and saving me hours of frustration searching for a nonexistent model!). I wish Case
would release an 07W with cap-lifter, I would definitely buy that one.
Cheers,

Here's a single blade bare head 07 that was the Case Collectors Club Jr. Member knife for 1997. What I find interesting about this knife (other than it being my first bare head mini trapper) is the pattern number: 61007. We know the 6 = bone handle scales, the 1 = single blade, and the 07 = Case pattern number assigned to the mini trapper frame...but why is there an extra 0 in there? Anyone know?

As much as I love the Case 07 mini trapper pattern, I mostly tend to collect the wharncliffe (07W) models, and of those I prefer the single blade 107W to the dual blade 207W. Not only do I really love the wharncliffe blade profile, but I must admit, I don't much care for the clip blade for one seemingly insignificant reason: the placement of the nail pull. I feel the pull is much too close to the pivot to allow for decent opening leverage. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I had pretty much resigned myself to it (what I consider a design flaw) until I got this Parker-Edwards mini trapper. Notice that on the Parker the pull is positioned further away from the pivot, past the shoulder more towards the tip of the blade. Amazing how much difference that makes in the ease of opening the blade. If I could change one thing about the Case design, it would be to reposition the pull on the clip blade similar to where it is on the Parker mini trapper---a small adjustment that would be a significant improvement, IMO.

~Q~ You pick up all the 107W mini-trappers and I'll grab all the 207W mini-trappers. That will make both of us happy.
Even though I have a couple of the single blade 107W models I much prefer those with two blades.

Fine by me, jerryd. But I am curious if you also find the pull on the clip blade inconveniently close to the pivot, or is it just me?

The folder with the 07s in it was sitting here by my desk so I tried them and no, I don't find the nail nick to be in an inconvenient/uncomfortable position. For me, actually quite nice.

Do you suppose they gave those to the fellas that went on that Honor Flight or was it something for sale?
I decided I don't have anything in Kirinite so this 07 in Patriot Kirinite is on it's way to live with me. I would have rather had an 07W but couldn't find any evidence one was made with Patriot Kirinite.
Sellers picture is representative of what I'll get since all handles are slightly different.

You're preaching to the choir re: preference for the 07W, jerryd; I feel your pain.
Substitute in any number of different handle materials and that's the exact same problem I keep running into.
Although generally I tend to prefer natural handle materials, I must admit that Patriot Swirl is very attractive. I've seen a few other 07s with synthetic handles that intrigue me as well, so I might have to start rethinking my bias. It certainly would make my decision a lot easier if the synthetic-handled mini Trappers I like had a wharncliffe blade, though.
