Great knives all!

Here is a fine vintage 3 1/2" Shadow Wharncliffe Pen knife, marked "S. Hibbert/& Son/Sheffield" on both tangs and "Trade Skipper Mark" stamped deeply into the master blade. Blades have been buffed at some point but not enough to spoil the knife.

Here are 2 more fine vintage ivory handled Pen knives: 3 1/2" Sleeveboard Pen marked "Doidge/Blackpool". Perfect snaps, no play what-so-ever. 125 or more years old and it works perfectly and feels great in hand.
The other is a vintage Henckels, 3" Senator Pen Friodur Inox. I believe Henckels Friodur patent is from mid 1930's. This could be an early 'Friodur'.

Here is a lovely 3 3/4" ivory Multiblade i just found. "Found" means in my own house but i did not know it was there.
Tip bolsters, warm smoothy creamy ivory perfectly radiused. Liners are finely milled and are nickel-silver i think.
Only marking is the anchor logo on master front tang, making it a Jacoby & Wester or a Wester Bros.
It has an old sticker on it; price tag ? anyone able to fully decipher it ?

Maybe a pattern no. 2177 1/2 and a price $62?

$62 for just this knife or for a box of 6 ?
The handwriting looks 'old', in a style my father would use, meaning taught in school about 100 yrs ago. If it is the original price tag, then even $10 for a knife would have been extremely expensive, i think. If you know what prices were 100 years ago please post.

Can only imagine how much it would be worth today (I say "imagine" since it may now be illegal to sell elephant ivory). Anyway, that one's a keeper, for sure...beautiful specimen. At first I thought the price sticker detracted, but I can see how it may also be considered an interesting part of the history of the knife. Although, if it were mine, I would remove it because to me it's like putting a price tag on any piece of great art; true art is both timeless and priceless (IMO).

have a quill knife I brought just recently with what I am told as being ivory scales.it has on the tang of the blade FINE STEEL.Where do you think this knife was made sheffield?and has anyone have an idear how old it might be.I've been told about 1880.? Thank you

Beautiful & old Quill knife. Handles are ivory, aged to perfection here. Looks like a Sheffield pattern to me. Very nice knife !

Four pm to some, three pm to others, it's Tea Time in Britain. "Tea" is a small sit down meal intended to revive & refresh one until the 8pm dinner time.
In addition to a freshly made pot of tea there can be fresh crusty white bread cut into thick slices with butter, marmalade and jam. each in their own specific serving dish and with their own knife or spoon for serving oneself. There might also be small sandwiches with the crusts cut off and a selection of cheeses.
I think only the British would create a "Tea Knife" for spreading the butter and jam (or marmalade) on your thickly sliced fresh crusty bread at 4 pm (or 3 pm).
Here is a set of 6 Jos. Rodgers His Majesty ivory Tea knives. The handles are oval in cross section and the pattern is called "Tulip". I believe these were made just prior to WW I, making them just over 100 years of age. The ivory is very fine and cannot be fully appreciated in these pictures.

I have received a message from an experienced collector regarding cookyboy's Quill knife shown at the bottom of the previous page. I declared: "Handles are ivory, aged to perfection here", however the message states that the handles look more like horn.
Having another look now i can see some translucence along the edges which is more like horn than ivory.
If this handle is horn, then it is the first time i have seen horn used for a Quill knife (that i can recall). Furthermore if it is horn then India/Pakistan might also be possibilities for origin along with Sheffield.

Here are two custom knives that are very special to me.

The maker, Gorden Johnson, passed away at 92 years old on 6/13/2016. Gorden was a founding member of the Houston TX. based Gulf Coast Knife Club. He made well over 1000 knives in his home based shop. He was one heck of a knife maker and even a finer man. I was privileged to have known him.

Very nice! I love the skinner blade. I made a Damascus blade knife for a friend a few years ago that has wart hog ivory on it. It's about the only ivory that is legal anymore, however I still like good ole elephant ivory.

Terry that is a great looking knife. You must be proud of this one. Reminds me of the work of Gatean Beauchamp (without the handle etch).
