You really set the bar high for the rest of the guys in the pass. I have thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and stories.
Hunting season is just kicking off so I would imagine ol' griz will be cleaning some warm blooded game before it's all over
Scott this is just awesome

Thanks Brian, but I am confident that Griz still has a lot to do and see this fall.
Cleaned him up a little with some Mother's, ran him on my strop and oiled him. Got ole Griz packaged up and will
drop him at the P.O. later tonight or early tomorrow for his trip to North Carolina......9405 5036 9930 0049 7238 08.
One last and most sincere Thank You to our Knife Pass Host, appreciate you Scott....
Final thoughts on the knife are very positive. It was extremely comfortable to use, a great size and was easily touched up
to shaving sharp with a couple passes on a medium stone and then a little stropping. The sheath is very well made and I
really did like the style of it. It just worked very well on all of the tasks I needed it for. I may have to pick up one of these
knives to add to my working fixed blades, Great Job on this one by Case Cutlery....

I have been following Trevor's adventures with Griz with great interest - it sure has been fun to vicariously fish Alaska! I will do my best to uphold the tradition once Griz arrives. Our rifle season for whitetail doesn't begin until 12 OCT, but I will try to fill the time with something relevant. OH

Sorry for the confusion guys!
I posted the Maryland DNR hunting schedule link for all to see. Squirrel season doesn't even come in for 2 more days yet, but I won't be back up to the farm until the weekend of September 28th. Local things going on in Alexandria this coming weekend and plans for my Dad's birthday the following weekend around Orange, VA. No sense in Griz hanging out here in the city for 3 weeks with nothing to do.
I do plan on turkey hunting the weekend of October 28th and rifle hunting deer for 2 weeks starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Some guys bow hunt deer on our property but I don't have a bow. I will probably squirrel hunt throughout their season which runs from September 7th through February 28th.
So keep me posted, thanks.

Maybe we should send it back here to FLA to rest until November?

Not a bad idea Scott. A little early for hunting season. I think it's squirrel season in Southern Illinois (don't get nervous Rocky).

I just looked. Squirrel (Tree Rats) season came in for the entire state on August 1st. They used to split the state and squirrel season came in on Aug. 1st in Southern Illinois and August 15th in Northern Illinois. Glad to see they've stopped that foolishness.

You could use Griz for head removal duty on those doves.

The Griz arrived about an hour ago from Alaska! First impression; in the hand it feels good - I like the leather grip, it's been fuzzed up a little, should grip very well. At 5" there is a lot of very sharp blade sticking out front of the handle. I have already seen from Trevor's pictures that it is a helluva fillet knife, gonna see what kind of skinning knife it is next. I'll keep you posted. OH

Taking Phil's advice I went afield this morning in pursuit of dove (only thing open except for bow hunting deer - I'm not an archer). Had a gorgeous sunrise, The Griz and plenty of shells, a suitable breakfast, and a good field setup - had everything but doves! Muzzleloader season for deer opens 9/28 - I plan to hunt on the 30th - maybe we'll have a deer down that morning. OH

Bruce that reminds me a lot of many of my deer hunting trips....................nothing!
I usually never bother going after doves till mid afternoon. Seems they are more active from about 2PM till about 6PM. Most of the rest of the day they are either 'graveling' or sitting on a distant wire mocking me.

Been up a stand with my muzzleloader and Griz for the last few hours, plenty of turkey and a few spurts of rain, no deer yet. Hopefully more to follow. OH
