LC the 47's are one of my favorites, sweet knives you have.

Here is a 6318 from the XX era. I guess you would call it regular bone.

Maybe you can clear something up for me. I see knives posted with Mammoth Ivory and Mastadon Bark as handle material.
What is the actual material used? I assume that it is not real Ivory or the treehuggers would be having cinniption fits. Maybe I am incorrect (happened once already this week) on another knife.

In no way, shape or form does my question take away from the beauty of your knife and others posted. They are real pretty whatever the handle material is. Just curious.

To the best of my knowledge Jerry, Mammoth and Mastadon ivory is O.K. to sell. I have a mammoth ivory 4 blade congress made by case in '06. also , I have a mastadon tooth custom made jackknife. I believe you can buy these scales at any knife supply company in the U.S. I would post pics, but am currently having trouble uploading pics. Tim P.S. SWEET KNIFE JEFF!

Jerry the handles are real, what I understand is, its fossilized ivory. Here is a pic of the certificate of origin that came with the knife.

Thanks Tim! Honestly had no clue. With all the fancy handle type names used now and the fact Ivory is normally considered taboo due to poaching to get it, thought it might be a reference to a handle color. Not actual Mammoth Ivory.

I appreciate the pic of the certificate explaining the history. Totally cool!!! Thinking about rehandling a couple of CASE XX era knives and I like the idea of real old, pretty handle material.
What does a knife with Mammoth Ivory cost compared to the same knife/ year in bone?

Jerry if I remember correctly SMKW was selling the knife I have for $300. I can't remember if that was retail or sale price. I can tell you though I didnt pay that much for it.

This is from an anniversary set. It's a nice knife but overall the set was a soaking. My wife bought it for my birthday. I don't want to Dis anybody so I won't name the company in the Tennesee Mountains that she bought it from. They put it to her pretty bad. The postage was more than a good knife cost plus the same set was going for allot less everywhere I looked. She took a beating from them over a KABAR anniversay set as well. I have deleted the TV chanel that airs their prograam so she doesn't get whipped again

Oh yea she does. She has found and bought some great knives. She's a keeper

Still learning ,I think this is a stockman? Has xx on main blade tang no other visible markings and its missing a bit of handle maybe I can find a fix here

Shugy your rite, that is a 63047 stockman. One of my favorite patterns.
