All About Pocket Knives

got a pair of Eye Brand Solingen, Germany that I got in a box of "stuff" at an auction a while back. Kind of a nice etch on the blade, also have a Wiss bent trimmer that I bought new in 1967 and still use them. terry

TripleF and terryl, those look like great old scissors. It is nice to come across such usable, high quality items at tag sales/auctions. I always look at the old scissors and shears as I can never seem to have to many : )

A nice pair of eye scissors there, I have been looking for a decent pair of those for the collection. I have slowed down my scissor buying but couldn't leave these nice old WISS Inlaid #22 shears laying rusty in a bucket at the flea market for $2. Wiss and Clauss are 2 of the best using scissors I have found.

Don't know if you could actually call these scissors although they operate like a pair.In reality a fishing tool.No maker's name.

Maybe the posters on this thread will appreciate this pair of scissors my dad made. They are nearly three feet long and weigh about five pounds. And they sliced right through a mail order catalog.

In addition to just passing time, I believe he made them to prove he could.

Here's a nice pair of sewing scissors from Griffon.
As nicely made as they appear the fastener is not a screw. It is a rivet made to look like a screw. I tried to tighten it before I realized it was a rivet. It was peened on the back. I peened it again and it is just right now. It has a little gold wash.
I don't know if these were made in Bridgeport or Wooster or Germany.
Scissors, can I leave them alone now? Yeah, probably not really.

Griffon in New York does or did sell kitchen cutlery, like my post of the damaged meat or turkey carving knife that turned into a Wharncliffe fixed blade. Was made in Japan but they show sets from several company's if you Google it.

Here is a poerful pair of scissors that i bought for $10 on ebay from Bill Swan. Made by "Victoria" which is the earlier name for "Victorinox". I think name changed in 1985 ?
These are heavy duty and cut through thick cardboard with ease. I have already used it a fair bit in packing up knives i have sold. Often boxes are bigger than needed so i cut them down to the size needed to help save postage cost.
I bet a similar pair now would be around $100.

I picked up several old pairs of scissors at a recent estate sale.
This one has "National Cy. Co." on it, and I my research came up blank.
They are app. 6.5" in length.
Is anyone familiar with it, and care to estimate the age of the scissors?

Interesting old scissors. They look well made.

I wonder if National Cy. Co. is an abbreviation for National Cutlery Company.??

I used to live near "National City" in San Diego... it was a small town back in the day now surrounded by greater San Diego. Maybe there is a relation? Long shot I reckon'
