I would like to see full pictures of your knife with the punch. I also have one, the master spear is narrow from years of use. I still like it and also think they are rare.

dragon25, yes, this type of jigging or pickbone does look to be quite early , although I don't have a lot of experience to judge by. I wish you the best in trying to find a set of covers, or scales, for your knife.

Nice knife, gringo.
It looks very similar to mine in many ways. Your handle is really nice, it almost looks like burl.
Mine is American Knife Co. Plymouth, Ct.
I believe Northfield and Plymouth were connected at one time. I'll have to look that up.

Here's a link to a NORTHFIELD that I just picked up at auction. A bit pricey, but a nice example in my opinion. Soooooooo, tell me what you would have paid for it then I will tell you what I DID pay for it. Let's have some fun, be realistic, (if you were buying it, what would you pay?)

Kind of depends on how many knowledgible knife collectors were following the auction.

It's a nice old knife. Better than "Good+", I think.

I'm going to assume not many knife people bidding and you got it for $70.00 +/-. No, wait. You said a bit pricey..........$275.00, covering all the bases.

If I collected knives from a company as old as Northfield, I'd have gone as high as $225.00 on it.

Post a few better quality pics when you have it in hand.

Congratulations on it, whatever the cost.

I pretty sure that one is pre 1878, I think its in as fine a condition that anyone can expect. If I had big bucks today I would have gone $500.00

Joe , yes it is a 3 1/2 in sleeveboard pen looks like horn handles under a loop

I seem to recall seeing that one, Paul. IIRC it went for big bucks. I wish GEC would duplicate that pattern or something very similar.

Here is my latest Old Northfield. This one came from an auction in NH. 4" closed and in very good condition.
